What did you do in the garden today?

WHAT in the heck is this insect? Its hanging around my alpine strawberries on the deck (nowhere near the garden).
Looks like a parasitic wasp, a nightmare for bugs but great for us. And I hope your eye gets better quickly.

Planted the first 2 half wine barrels, the first with with lantana, salvia, and agastache, and the other with mixed cosmos. Going to get a bunch more for more flowers and if my artichokes don't do well enough in the ground, I'll plant them in some too. Pulled the last of the shallots and left them to dry on the lawn, then planted (what else?) more tomatoes with marigolds for guard duty. I'll try the salad greens in the shade of the tomatoes. Just finished lunch/dinner, I grilled pork ribs, pineapple, and corn on the cob. I'm really please with the new grill and since it's 80 here today, I didn't have to turn on the oven or stove once.

Gettin too hot here and too much rain then not enough rain. Such is life I guess. Been in the mid 90's lately. About 30% chance of rain predicted for the past few days but we get maybe a TSP in a day. Supposed to have 70% tomorrow but I planted Black eye peas today for a summer cover crop so that makes the 70% iffy now.
Not much left in the garden now but Okra and Mrs. Lobo's yard long beans and they both like it hot. Still have some 'maters struggling but I fear their time is almost up. Oh! and the impalaya (bitter melon ) that too likes the heat. And the asparagus but they're in their summer mode now, And purple yams ( Ube, ((dioscorea akata, just had to look that up )) which won't be ready to dig up until cold weather comes.
Tight lines folks!

Been raining most of today. It finally stopped. I had my roses in their pots in the toddler's wading pool so it wouldn't blow away, but had to go rescue them because the pool is full. The back yard is standing water again too, so no work, also, still too sick. Blegh. Combination of new geographical area, stress of moving, new people, etc.

Did some pruning as suggested (Thank you!) & staked a bunch of them.

Oh those look nice. Red Pears? they look like little Christmas tree ornaments. I bet you can't wait to eat them either!

Aloe Vera? OH don't remind me, I was working outside today too, my back is telling me I did something very bad to it sunwise :(

I need to scout out a place to dig up some sand for the chickens' dust bath. I dumped it out when it got rain in it and STUNK. It might take a few days for sand to dry out now that we've had 7" of rain.

I have one potato plant blooming. I think I might dig it up in a week to see what is going on down below. Since I have about 75 more plants, I don't think I'll miss this one.

I honestly didn't think I get 69 out of 72 plants! Plus the volunteers I missed from last year, and 4 plants from seed.
