What did you do in the garden today?

More rain...it’s rained twice today for about 30 minutes each time...I’m so worried about flooding...

Well, after that, @BReeder!, I sure feel like a slacker! Wow, love the pictures of your garden.

I have several small green cherry tomatoes. Those are the ones I wish would hurry up. The big tomatoes can do their thing when there are enough to can. Or one can ripen so I can slice it. But the little cherries are what I snack on as I go through the garden. Snack, hydration, vegetable (or fruit, actually) all in one bite. What's not to love? Well, unless you don't like cherry tomatoes, I suppose.

I pulled the big weeds out of the potato patch. We got some rain last night, so I wanted to get the grassy stuff out while the ground was damp.

4 hours of mowing
I was just getting ready to start when two area kids age 7 and 9 came by looking for small jobs for $. Deal. $10 later and 40 minutes of work from them and my firebreak is clear of weeds. They only missed a couple, those I'll pull and spray later.

BUT because I was off my train of thought, I forgot to put on sunscreen. I'm a tad red.

Manged a pint of cherry tomatoes and a pint of blackberries. The sunflowers are gorgeous (I'm planting a LOT more of those, they're just so pretty) and the grapes are looking amazing. I'll have about 8 slicing tomatoes ready tomorrow/Saturday.

Believe me, we are finding all kinds of stuff in random places around this place. In the house, in the barn, in the attic. They left us all kinds of wood, roof panels, tile, cattle equipment, rope, shelves. Basically stuff that has been incredibly useful around the farm.

Sounds like the more you inspect the property, the more good stuff you find. Every day is like a treasure hunt.

Which Pole Bean has nearly reached the top of my 10ft tall bean towers?
:barnie OK, super jealous of your pole beans. Yesterday I went out to the main garden and discovered all my pole beans had been eaten down to the dirt. I suspect deer. Anyway, nothing left of those pole beans. But good for you. Beans looking great.

I caught one rat that was eating my figs, but there is another. I might go buy an aluminum sheet to make a baffle around the trunk but I'm sure that will just send the rat to my strawberries nearby

Tomatoes are coming in, have a bowl of early girls already and a couple mortgage lifters from a volunteer plant. One watermelon seems close to ripe, might be a week out. My tallest sunflower is over 9 feet - I will get a photo when it blooms.

I went to a State park and picked blackberries from 10 AM till 1:30. In a few days the place will be overflowing with ripe berries. Today I had to work hard to find some ripe ones. I’m going to check again on Sunday evening when I get off work.
In the garden I pulled a bucket of wild strawberry plants. They are trying to overtake my domestic strawberries. The rabbits always love when I pull them up because they get to eat them. 🤣
Oh, and I have 3 or 4 cherry tomatoes starting to ripen!
