What did you do in the garden today?

Hot days . Humid early makes it tough to do much . Then too hot to do much . So I do a little then come in to cool off . Age is the other factor . Time was I could work all day in the heat .

Bean trellis - a few varieties of pole beans for drying, they all grow differently, of course.

I started "Mini Red Bell Peppers" from seed (seed I purchased from a small company). However, of the three plants growing, it appears that I have 3 kinds of peppers! That first of three pics in a row - that is certainly not a bell pepper of any kind!

If anyone wants to order garlic for next year, order now. One site was sold out of several already. It gets shipped out in Sept/Oct for fall planting, to be harvested next summer.

Too funny @Acre4Me! Like my pole/bush bean fiasco.

I'm impressed with my peppers, they start sooo slow from seed that I never thought they'd produce anything but they're doing great. Slow day in the garden, not much to do. I just need to turn the compost & do a bug check.

Walk done and breakfast had.
Cloudy now and only 80, so I thought I'd take advantage of that before we hit 100+.

I'm going out to clear the garden of any goodies while it waters. I'll trim off sunflower heads for seed to dry for next year and I'll check on the progress of our resident swallowtail caterpillars.

I've been waiting for my fave place to get shallot sets in to order, but it's not happening! I want to order seeds for spring soon too.

I have a thing for High Mowing Seeds so if they have what I need I order from them. The new softneck garlic I added last year from them is huge & grew extremely well. But I won't need to order any, I have put aside the 3 biggest bulbs to replant in the fall.

Where do you guys order garlic?

I am buying garlic from the farmers market. Many of the vendors there charge $1 per bulb. I go for large hardneck bulbs. Meet a great couple I bought some from and hope they are back this Sunday because they said they have even bigger bulbs than the ones I bought from them. I'm hoping they bring some to sell.
