What did you do in the garden today?

Might be adopting this cat tomorrow. He’s about a year, just got fixed today. Was part of a hoard of cats voluntarily given up, and all of them look pretty good for only being at the shelter for about 10 days -I don’t think they were in bad shape, I think the person could no longer keep up.

Ooh, get him! I have a cat with that type of fur and lynx tips and he is a total angel!

Good to know! He seems to be a good natured cat. Now we need to integrate him with current cat. We have a plan. Also, was told that since current cat is female (fixed) and this one is male (also fixed) that they should integrate pretty well.

Hi @igorsMistress, good to see you pop in! & IMHO you can NEVER ask for too many pics!

I'm happy to see everyone adopting pets. My little troubled boy was a difficult one, but he's worth his baggage. He's still got issues, but he's a good boy. Mostly. :gig

Took me an extra hour to get home from work last night so I didn't get into the garden. I still need to untie some stuff from Henri & probably pick some peppers, tomatoes & beans. Hopefully I'll have a couple squash soon from the 2nd planting.

I'm going to start hoarding eggs for the winter, time to stop giving them away as the girls are slowing down a bit. Im going to cook a lot of egg muffins for DH & vacuum seal them - they should be good till spring I would imagine. & then I'll freeze just some scrambled up to bake with. :idunno I haven't done this yet since having chickens!

My grapefruit tree always did fine down into the upper upper 20s. I'd leave it out unless you get a real cold spell, then you might be able to just cover it or drag it in if you keep it in a pot.

OMG soo exciting all the pets getting new homes! Maybe it's my imagination, but all the rescue dogs I've had seemed to totally appreciate their new lives after a while. If that's even possible for a dog. But I swear Patrick knows his life is better. He was 13 lbs when they found him, he was a starving stray that had never been in a house. Now he's 30 lbs & he is loving his life & is sometimes ok walking across a tile or wood floor, lol. He took a good 2 years to be ok with DH, but they are best buds now.

& we'll DEFINITELY need pup & kitty pics - don't make me yell at you guys! :gig

He smiles a lot now. Goof ball.

Cute!!

Our first rescue cat was around 5 months old when we got her. She stayed in her large cage (with loft) for the most part to get her used to her new space, and so she would not run and just hide all the time. The entire first day she was with us she purred nonstop. She was very happy!

Our setter was a pound baby, although we bought him from a guy who adopted him from the pound. The guy was being very picky about who got to take him, he loved the dog but knew it was not a dog for living at their tiny city lot. The dog had a path wore down to dirt along the entire length of privacy fence in the back yard. We had 10 acres with about 1 acre fenced for the dogs.
Our dog Pete was 11 months old when we got him and he had been adopted from the pound 4 times and returned 4 times before the guy we bought him from adopted him. He is purebred English setter and was flown in from a Texas breeder. Pete is now 14 3/4 years old and still runs around like an idiot when he decides to bark at something.

Good morning gardeners. Temps and humidity going back up today. I picked the green beans from the "corn patch" this morning. They must be the same kind you planted @Sueby, they're really good hiders, and very long. I also pick the very first lima bean pods. I opened one and the bean was perfect and sweet tasting. I also picked some okra, a small bell pepper and some more jalapenos. The peaches are one to two days from picking. OMG! The wait is excruciating. A little tired from canning and washing up yesterday. I have to get the peppers and okra into the freezer and make labels for the pickles and tomato sauce and maybe just rest up a little. It wasn't too hard to miss my kitchen remodel @NewBoots. I started this last November / December. The money I had set aside to remodel my kitchen got a little highjacked for basement repairs for a little water leakage issue. The basement is all dry and snug now and the work on the kitchen is still in progress. First was tearing out the wall paper and painting the room (cathedral ceilings in there, I don't do high ladders), then installing an awesome jet propelled exhaust hood and a new stove. I opted for the "old fashioned" coil style electric range, with adjustable oven temperature calibration, self cleaning , etc. I just wanted something that could handle a heavy canning pot. I will have my new countertops and sink soon. The sink is actually sitting in the box in my dining room waiting for my countertops to be finished and installed. The floor and the tile backsplash will have to wait until after Christmas. The stove I bought is a General Electric Freestanding coil burner range (JB256). I highly recommend it. It is much more responsive than the useless flat top stoves. Rescue pets! The dogs I have had in the past were all rescue dogs. DD has always adopted rescue dogs as well. Her most recent is Miss Ellie. She was a rescue from a kill shelter in Tennessee. DD had to drive to Albany, NY to pick her up. She was a little shy at first, but now she knows she is in charge. She has had a lot of adventures and even did a weekend trip to Provincetown, Massachusetts and stayed in in luxurious dog friendly hotel and walked on the beach. I'm still contemplating getting another dog, but I am a little allergic. If I do, I will definitely adopt a rescue. And no cats for me, too allergic for them. It was good to see your post @igorsMistress. You have been missed. Have a great day everyone.
