What did you do in the garden today?

I made a case of apple jelly with a hint of rosemary this afternoon. Then picked another 5 gallon bucket of apples to make more :)

Evening all. Been a busy weekend.

Thank you for the jam recommendations. Dang, I did an apple butter last year! I want to do a little different this year, but maybe next year because that sounds delish with the cherry.
There's morning glories and bindweed. Related plants but in my experience, only the bindweed is a problem and it has large white trumpet flowers or the smaller variety with small pale pink or white flowers. It also has horrible roots that go everywhere and break off when you try to pull it. All those root bits regrow. Terrible stuff. Maybe the climate here keeps the annual ones from reseeding easily. The deep purple ones are pretty reliable at reseeding but that's the only one, the other colors we've planted grew one season then petered out.
Yes, took me a while to figure out the difference between morning glory & bindweed - everyone here is so opposed to it because it's invasive & I was confused because I purposely plant it every spring! It produces lots of seed pods but I actually collect them & plant the seeds in the spring or it doesn't reliably reseed itself. Super easy to get rid of here, it dies in the winter! I plant it on the dog pen fence (yes, those are chickens in the dog pen, lol, I let them in there so we don't have to mow :gig). The hummingbirds love the flowers & it provides privacy from my deck to the neighbors upstairs windows.

It's late & I forgot what else I was gonna say. :he

I pulled three pumpkins. I’m surprised there’s a fourth. Something ate the skin completely off, and I thought the fruit would die. Instead it’s growing more skin.

I see the same damage on one of the biggest pumpkins.

I don’t know the weights of the pumpkins.

Rats, pesky rodents. They'll do that to potatoes they can get at too. Watch that chewed on one closely. If it doesn't cure up well, it won't keep long and you'll have pumpkin rot mush in short order.

Cleaned out diseased/dying tomato plants(blight), weeded and tilled up a couple rows. Planted Chinese cabbages, Alabama Blue Collards, Ragged Edge Mustard and Rutabaga. Yesterday, I did a bit and planted red and sweet yellow onions, carrots, turnips and beets. Usually , I plant some of these things a couple weeks sooner, but I have done Ok, even planting later some years. I had roofers here today, they wanted to take advantage of cooler weather that moved in finally! Today was pleasant, below 90 most of the day, lower humidity and quickly cooling at sunset. Best labor day weather in years, here!

Got to shop for a new washing machine today . Old one will not run on first cycle . Only starts at first rinse . Repair clinic video says circuit board . None available . So I guess they no longer make them .
I would think that its just a part on the circuit board that failed and not the circuit board itself. Might still be repairable :idunno
