What did you do in the garden today?

Just a quick FYI on the chicken tunnels before I finish catching up - I lost a bird to a bobcat in one. It pounced on the tunnel & tore the birds head off but couldn't get the body out. We caught it on it's 2nd try. So, with that said I really liked my tunnel but I can't imagine how I'd make one safe enough to have here again. Just a thought...

I am fortunate to have (unused) metal ducts laying around in the garage. I often thought about laying it down, and using it as a support/hiding spot in the tunnels. It’s all short enough that it should not build up too much heat/condensation.

Just dreaming of gardens, seed starts, green things. Our weather is in the mid thirties, but as the afternoon goes on, temps will rise into the 40's and continue rising and hold steady through the night! The weather fairy has come to visit Massachusetts! :bow
Don’t worry:hugs a snowstorm will cover MA in late April, and remind you why New England is a terrible place to live. Of course the whole speech classes for us poor children that were Boston born, and raised elsewhere is another reason. :rant There was nothing wrong with me saying, “cah,” instead of, “car.”

I'm with you @Sally PB & @BReeder! - I'm about done with the snow & ice for the year, looking forward to spring. I do love winter, but when we get 60 degree days thrown in amongst the snow storms it gets harder & harder!

@BullChick that sound like a good idea for tunnels. If I had a fully fenced in yard & then the tunnels on top of it I would consider it. Not that I have a need anymore, but if I did.

So I have a hen coming back into lay & OMG has she announced to the world allllll day long that she's going to lay an egg. She hasn't, of course, but sheesh she is redic! :smackShe has all the other girls all worked up too. & the littles have no idea what to make of her.

I put in a few calls to take down a giant oak tree in the chicken run, of course not a single person has called back. They're going to need a crane & I'm not taking down the bird netting so it will be a little tricky but not a huge deal. I hate that you can't PAY people to do jobs anymore.

My grandmother was a Southie! I can still hear her saying pa-tay-da. Or maybe more like pa-day-ta. I dunno, weird tho. & Whipped - I still remember that but I have no idea how to spell it the way she said it. :gig

I hit another Fred's yesterday and they had a couple kinds of beets, a couple kinds of lettuce, some mixed chard, and parsley. They're all planted and looking good.

One of our California white bunnies gave birth to 7 bunnies last night. She'd been bred to a mixed black bunny we'd gotten from a neighbor and 6 of her kits are black and one is pink with a dusting of white fuzz. So cute, I'll post pics in a couple days, this is her first litter so we don't want to upset her too much.

Oh and on the subject of gardening:
All the Plants.jpg

I accidentally posted this in a different thread yesterday so I'm reposting it here. I also got some nantes half long carrots and blackseed lettuce planted via seed tape. Next job is to open and spread the contents of one side of the compost bin.

Still snow from a week ago. Getting rain and possibly a bit of snow tonight and all day tomorrow. Warm today, but getting cold again for awhile.

Need to start some more seeds. A little preoccupied though! Spouse had surgery today: a plate and 6 screws to put his broken fibula back together. #@&% Ice!!
