What did you do in the garden today?

Easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Oh, wait, nowadays they spy on us with satellite or drones. We had the county come out to check for some structure that was 3x3.!? It was the lower landing on the deck staircase.

do they spy on weekends? most things here get done friday afternoon to monday morning. not big jobs but like retaining walls, etc.

Yea, tell my littles that were stalked by our resident hawk that he wouldn't have eaten them! That thing sat on the fence & followed them around trying to find out how to get through the bird netting for weeks on end.

Her neighbor a few doors down CONCRETED the WHOLE backyard as a basketball court, and asked for forgiveness after. Granted. And that's not destroying 'greenspace'.
I think nosy busy bodies complain or call in and question to the city and and that's how things that are none of their business get called out.

She's thrilled with all her little temporary tents I've sent her, so we'll see how that goes.

Was going to hit the ground running and work in the garden, but it's only 32 and the winds are howling. Heading for 75 today, but I need it to warm up with the winds. So I'll run into the village and get diesel. There's snow coming next weekend, and I'm not sure between me and northern indiana who's getting it, but I'm almost out of diesel anyway. And I'll either need it to plow or to put down fertilizer, so may as well get some.
By lunch it should be warm enough to work outside.

I picked up some bone meal yesterday and some dwarf marigold seeds for around the tomatoes.

Get out there and get dirty, or at least have dirty thoughts!

Be prepared for big sticker shock at the pumps. Driving home from Boston yesterday the gas station’s signs were glaring $3.99 a gallon for regular gas. Home heating oil here has jumped 60 cents per gallon here in the last week and a half. I filled my gas tank last week when prices were $3.29 per gallon.

DH said diesel went up 60 cents a gallon ($4.79) & gas went up 20 ($4.09) OVERNIGHT. We filled the oil tank 2 or 3 weeks ago at $3.60, today it's $4.16.

Ya. We've been paying 3.80 a gallon for just gas for weeks, so it is what it is. I can't NOT have fuel.

I filled my oil tank at the start of the Russian invasion. The price of fuel oil jumped 20 cents per gallon the next morning. I paid $3.79 per gallon then, but now the rate is $4.19 per gallon. Home heating oil is pretty much the same as the diesel fuel you buy at the pumps. I remember the insanity when the Oil Embargo of the early 1970's occurred. It got to the point of rationing gas and alternating days when you could actually buy gasoline. Prices for gas averaged around $1.59 per gallon at the time but jumped up to around $4 per gallon. On a happier note: I finally found a local food pantry that accepts donations of backyard chicken eggs. The girls are producing 4 dozen plus eggs per week. Even with selling 4 or 5 dozen per month and giving them to DD, I still have a lot of eggs. They also accept homegrown produce. This makes me very happy.

My local pantry takes them too! He was very confused about chicken stuff when I asked tho - he said people would not like having fertilized eggs so he wanted to know if I had a rooster. LOL. I told him they'd never know unless they were chicken people! He had no clue. Just like the argument I got in with my sister about the chalaza, she insisted it was an undeveloped baby.

I do remember odd & even days back in the day!
