What did you do in the garden today?

Would you mind sharing what canner you have? I have a glasstop stove & am scared to can on it. I also have an outdoor grill with a burner & could do it there - but an electric one sound so much easier! & more doable in the snow. :lau
I got an Instant Pot Max first for pints, I use it for regular pressure cooking a lot and then I got a Presto Precise #02144 for quarts. I haven't used the Presto yet since I haven't needed quarts yet. And it's my understanding that Presto is a different name for the Nesco one.

Instant pot only works for steam/water bath canning. They dont keep pressure steady enough to pressure can with. Especially at higher elevations.
AllAmerican all the way!

There was Finally grass! Sun , a taste of spring, snow clearing off the paths. . .

I have an electric glass top stove and even the manufacturer says it shouldn't be used for pressure cooking. So I got a fancy (and freaking expensive) single burner for canning, but it can't hold a steady temperature and has to be constantly babysat when used for pressure canning. A lady named Rosered on Youtube did heavy experimentation with electric pressure canners. She knows her sh... uh stuff and she has said the models and brands of canners I use are good for pints for the Instantpot and quarts for the Presto are accurate so those are what I use. I wouldn't tell anyone what they should use, just what I myself am using.

"Presto" sounds familiar. We had an old one, aluminum, had to have been 30+ years old. I opened it w/o first relieving pressure (something apparenetly you can't do with new desings???) hot liquid sprayed everywhere. Burned pretty badly.

Didn't learn my lesson, did it a second time a few years later.

Seal finally wore out, we replaced it (couldn't find replacement seals) with a taller, less wide model. No idea what brand.
This is the presto digital electric pressure canner.

Electric Pressure cooker??? WHY!!! Plug in pots and pans are good only for waffle makers, toasters, and crock pots - and they don't work so well as toasters (though better than a gas flame).
Yea, tell that to my glass top stove! & I love my Ball electric waterbath canner.

I had read the same on all the burners I looked at hence the standalone electric canner you just made me buy. :lau ❀️ I can't wait to get it! I may even process the broth from the freezer.

I have carrots and radishes sown at my allotment garden recently and onion seeds and sweet peas growing on all of my windows indoors (so far the cats have managed not to knock them down). I have a greenhouse coming for my home garden soon :D. I had a little plastic one at the allotment last year but it got a big beaten in the wind. Glad I found this thread, it looks like there's pretty much a thread for all of my hobbies here :).

I had a glass top stove that could handle hot water bath canning. I wasn’t adventurous enough to try pressure canning on it. Replaced that stove with a less fancy coil burner type stove. Gas stoves are preferable and there are gas lines on the street but running it to the house and then the cost of a new stove was way more money than I wanted to spend on it. My new electric stove handles my large presto canner with no problem. Best of luck with the electric canner @Sueby.
