Yay! I love mine, one of my favorite buys. Makes short work of taking pallets apart with no stress on my back.I also bought a pallet buster crowbar.
Put some clear plastic on your beds to warm up the soil, so you can plant the cool weather things earlier. They say to put down the plastic for 2-3 weeks, but 1 week might be sufficient now. I have put down plastic on 2 beds already to try some early beets and mustard. I have planted my garlic bulblets 2 days ago. I'll be planting potatoes today. We've had a hard freeze with above ground potato plants before, it does not kill them, but depending on how much the plant was impacted will determine how much the yield is impacted). In my area, I'm a bit warmer than you, but not too much - zone 6a.Anyone else in WI/MN or similar have the itch to start planting some cold weather plants but deep down you know better? I have that itch.....bad.....like a horrible mosquito bite. I just want to plant some spinach, onion sets, SOMETHING! it is going to be near 70 here today but then back down into the 40s for the rest of the week with 2 nights below freezing. I need someone to tie my hands back, start an intervention, something.....I just want to work in the dirt (beyond the clean up of leaves and weeds, lol)
Happy gardening to all that can![]()
I spent a little under 3 hours at the Farmer’s Market/ animal swap. I sold 9 jars of ( pickles, salsas, jams& jellies ). I’m happy to say I made a profit
There were a lot of variety of things for sale! Calves, dwarf goats, pigs, puppies, rabbits, turkeys, roosters, hens, chicks, Guineas, rats, mice, Guinea pigs, quail, quail eggs, a few plants, home made soaps, breads, cookies, jams, jellies, salsas, pickles, Kleenex box covers, hatching eggs, eating eggs, cages and accessories, toys ( jump ropes & stuffed animals & ??), light bars and who knows what all else!
Because of bird flu no water fowl are allowed per Missouri rules/ guidelines ( whatever).
It’s kind of surprising that they haven’t banned birds all together since many people have their ducks in with their chickens and whatever.
Our weather was absolutely gorgeous today!
When I got home I cleaned out rabbit poop and added it to the gardens. Then cleaned out chicken coop ( dirt floor) and poop boards in other coop and added to compost bin.
Tomorrow I need to buy more shavings so I can clean out and refresh both coops nest boxes and 1 coops floor. Also need to buy rabbit food and egg layer pellets. I want to get more branches sent through the wood chipper too. So far I have 9 big trash bags full. I’m going to use them to mulch around plants in the garden when I finally get to plant.
@igorsMistress my brother just gave me a n aqua timer for my birthday. I saw his last year when I went to visit. I can’t wait to try mine! He bought it at Home Depot. View attachment 3031614
You can program 4 different hoses (zones) and set multiple times and days.
I will put some down in the 4 beds I have ready today, thanks. I am doing some soil amending in the other area but was able to add some compost to the asparagus yesterday and started adding some compost/extra dirt to the remaining section 3 ft x 20 ft. I hope to find a small fence that I can lean over just for edging purposes, not really any animal deterrent once the ground thaws a bit morePut some clear plastic on your beds to warm up the soil, so you can plant the cool weather things earlier.
