What did you do in the garden today?

Quick question for any of you asparagus growers...

I noticed today that I have a bunch of asparagus coming up. This is my first year to harvest. The spears range from pencil size to index finger size and are anywhere from 4" - 8" in length. There's not a lot of them.... Maybe 6 - 8?

Heres my question... It's supposed to get down in the lower 40s tonight, tomorrow night, and Sunday night but will be in the upper 60s during the day. I have read that asparagus does not do well under 55 degrees. Should I go out and harvest the spears? If I do, will that cause it to send up more shoots?

Thoughts?

I bought these off amazon

My strawberry plants arrived! Now I need to figure out where, exactly to plant them. I got 8 single plants (3 varieties) and 50 bare roots (25 each of 2 varieties). Bare roots will take over a raised bed. The plants are likely to go into wide/low pots.

We are getting very low temps this weekend, so I think I should wait until Tuesday to plant the bare roots.

I would harvest them Make sure you cut them off below the dirt. They will regrow.

I've been watching my strawberries closely. I had some kind of disease that did a doozy on my plants last summer. I'm worried it might have killed most of them off. The pineberries & alpine are coming back with gusto but the June-bearing varieties (All Star, Quinault, Ozark Beauty, and Marshall) are generally still looking dead except for 2-3 plants that stayed green all winter. I keep thinking that MAYBE I see a bud coming up but it could just be wishful thinking. I do have a new variety of strawberry coming.

I ended up NOT going out to harvest any asparagus so hopefully it will pull through! :fl

Lastly, I've been playing around with the vegPlotter app and generally have my main area plotted out. The right half of this layout is actually inside my hoop house. The left side is outside the hoop house. I do have a slight change for the beans. I initially put them inside the hoop house behind squash. However, I'm pretty sure all the bean varieties I have are bush beans so I'll likely move them outside but still along the left side of the hoop house where I'm showing the nasturtiums now. I'll move the nasturtiums to the other side of the hoop house so they grow to the right of the tomatoes. This plot doesn't show my tire planters which align both the right and left side of the garden. The tires on the right side are filled with garlic & onions. The tires on the left side are filled with seed potatoes (red and yukon). Several items will be planted outside the main garden this year - pickling cucumbers, luffa, watermelon, runner beans. And I still haven't decided where I'm going to plant the rosemary or lemon grass.

I had $60 in Kohls cash and used it to buy a little outdoor greenhouse. It's only about 4 ft tall... Really small but functional and free! I moved my broccoli plants into it. I'm hoping we can till next weekend! :fl
Pics please! ❤️
This is my first home grown avocado!
How exciting! I love avocados, wish I could grow them here.

Supposed to rain on & off today & then get very cold for the next few nights. I will cover the strawberries. Some stupid tree rat (I assume) tore up my onion beds. & my walking onion bed that was covered! I have no idea how he got in there. :barnie Man do I hate when squirrels go looking for long gone acorns.

@WthrLady if I remember you have quite a nice coop & run, how many birds do you have right now? Sorry you had to lock them up but better safe than sorry is how I'm feeling about it. It's harder on me than the birds I think. (& I mean literally harder, more work)
