What did you do in the garden today?

Took my brassicas outside for a few hours to start getting them ready to transplant. Decided to put them in the sunniest window instead of under lights when I brought them back in. Then I can repot the tomatoes and use the extra space under the lights for them. Gonna wait a day or two for seeding the peas in case the rain is going to be too heavy.

Put up more fencing at the farm for the chickens. Cover to arrive in a few days. Added another 500 ft for them. In between that did 2 loads of laundry!

I’m tired but feel productive at least! 😂

They are heavy feeders. Try feeding them every two weeks during the growing season, even some blue juice is fine. I put down a good three inches of compost from the base of the plant to about three feet out. When I saw flowers I gave them Jobes every two weeks
Will do, I'll give them bunny poop as well.
So it’s just a muscle strain I’ve been ignoring for months and I need to give it a little time to heal a bit. I have a lot to do that doesn’t require too much muscle action. But I really am fine. One of the things about growing older is learning to accept age related limitations on physical activity.
I hear you. At this point I'm always happy when the various aches seem to go away with some rest and maybe a little ibuprofen.
but he is the physical therapist that murdered his wife, 3 kids & even the dog & then blamed the wife. Who was dead. 🤨 He was my physical therapist for my 2nd shoulder surgery so I'm interested in it.
OMG! Did he seem like a vile piece of walking garbage?
Good afternoon Gardeners I have 11 hatched this morning
PICTURES!!!! We have 5 in lockdown and 3 more a few days behind them. I can't wait to start hearing those tiny peeps!

So cold and raining hard this morning. There were ice/snow pellets and heavy rain hitting Penny and I as we were finishing up with the critters this morning. It was so nasty, Penny wasn't waiting by the gate to go on a walk. She waited for me on the covered back porch. Good, smart dog. A friend still living in Portland sent me a picture showing the inch of snow they got last night. Snow in Portland in April is something I've never seen. It was so dark earlier it looked like dusk at 1 pm. It's supposed to rain through Friday. Oh and the power just went out, then picked up again within a minute so just a scare.

Oh and this isn't a really good picture but I couldn't get any closer:

Looks like either a large juvenile sharp shinned or small coopers hawk with one of the birds from our bird feeder. Oh well, it IS a bird feeder after all.

I gave all my starts a little bit of fish fertilizer this weekend. I also moved that little greenhouse inside and put my starts in it. Two days later there's mold growing on top of the soil... So all the plants came back out again. GRRRRRRR. I am also battling fungus gnats. I used a mix of perioxide and water. Also been spraying with Neem oil but each time I check there's always a gnat flying around somewhere.

DH is still in the hospital with pancreatitis. Hoping he will come home tomorrow....

It was on the news here that Portland was getting snow! Crazy!

Nope. Nicest guy - he always supported all the local businesses & was a big part of the community. His business sponsored everything that happened in town & his kids were involved in everything. & very talented. The entire town was in disbelief, & still is.

But isn't there a 150 day wait period after culling for HPAI? I know I read that somewher

There is a 150 day fallow policy on culled flocks. But... are they enforcing that for the big suppliers? I don't know. Maybe they just bleach the everloving dung out of the place and resume?
No idea. They use an activated Oxine solution with Vit C that goes aerosol and kills everything. But even if one mega farm barn goes out of commission for 150 days, the other barns keep growing and barns with the same company are still up and running. This isn't has horrific as the 2016 outbreak.

I hope it doesn’t get too crazy!

Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery. ❤️
Just saw the weather forecast. After 3 more nice days, the temps crash, and we will have at-or-below freezing temps at night. B
This weather is getting really ridiculous. 🙄
