What did you do in the garden today?

Lucky. Still snowing.
Don’t worry. It’s been on and off between a few minutes of sun & then more snow. Can’t make up its mind!
for some reason my tomato starts all fell over. They don't really look damaged but they don't want to stand up anymore? Not sure what is going on with that? I will try to maybe put some small stakes in the pot to hold them up?
Maybe try repotting in a deep pot? You can bury the entire stem up to the leaves & it will grow roots & get stronger!

Yeah the closest Menards to Texas is in Kansas... Haha! Makes me sad though because I actually like their prices.

Watering, watching chicks get bigger, trying to keep the toddler and the crawler from destroying the house. The usual. Happy Easter to those that celebrate. Have a good Sunday to those that don't.

What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

Congradulations. My garden is my producing yet, but it looks promising. That also happened last spring, but then the hot weather messed everything up with every grower in Red Bluff, Calif. & maybe other places too. HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I ordered bare root strawberries, I also ordered a few potted varieties. Here is one that does produce strawberries, but it’s main attraction is the bright pink/red flowers. So, I’ll plant these in the pot with the alpine strawberries, and some geraniums.

We are going to have rabbit for dinner…seemed fitting today.

Morning all :)
@FlintMcCollough I too broke a water supply on Friday. Luckily I have an on call plumbing service. I was removing a stuck on manifold and the brass of the spigot snapped off in my hand. I was working to repair it and broke my channel locks. I then tried to remove the handle and the soft brass screw went. So I called $1000 later, I have a new spigot, from tip to tail, and as long as I was paying for them to be there, a new industrial line into my workshop with a new hanging bucket faucet, and a new faucet in the workshop commode. All were 15 years old, contractor/crap grade, and with our hard well water, were either leaking or seized. So I just made my life easier. LOL. I have to have water, that's my garden/orchard/greenhouse/barn/coop supply lines. After he left, I realized I should have had him do the line in the garage as well. Oh well, next time.

Transplanted 150 tomato starts last night before my thumb said to quit. I have another 150 to go in this tray, and the next strip tray should be sometime next week or 10 days.

I soaked a dozen peas last night and have those germinating on the counter. I'll toss those in the open spaced that didn't germinate in the hoop house.

Good Friday is traditional planting day for potatoes here, but I think I did it a week ago.

I did pick up tiny sweet potatoes at HomeDepot and some at the market, and have them in bulb vases in the kitchen for starts. I need to get to town and get some compost to fill my potato bins with. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I picked up a large cupula that blew off a guy's roof for cheap. I'm going to make it into a dovecot, just haven't quite wrapped my head around how yet. LOL.

Have a good day all.

Cloudy and chilly bit no rain so far. Looks like I was too optimistic planting the summer squash and cucumbers. The snap peas look great though and the greens are growing like crazy. Looks like Schrodinger and Dotty are both males (wing feather method) and Miss Prissy is female. Not sure that Miss Prissy is going to live though, she's smaller and not interested in food or water nor reacting to us scratching at the grown like the guys are. She had a hard hatching so she might just be a little behind in development. We'll give her some time and hope for the best.

Found a pretty egg shell on Penny's walk this morning. Maybe a redwing blackbird but it seems kinda large for that:

Any ideas?

OK, this is weird. We ALSO had a water leak... I told DH 2 weeks ago that I thought we had a water leak out front because I was sinking in the front landscaping like quicksand. He said I was wrong and it was just because we've had so much rain. Well, when he was in the hospital I saw the water bill. It was $370 instead of the usual $70. It cost me another $325 to find a plumber to come out immediately. The shut off valve fitting just outside the house was majorly split. Took evidence of the leak and fix to the water company for a bill adjustment and they said our next bill will be even BIGGER than the last one. 🤬🤬🤬 Maybe DH will listen next time I tell him there's a water leak...

Never doubt a gardener when she says "the ground has never done THAT before, no matter how much rain we've had....." :rant
