What did you do in the garden today?

Nothing so far this morning but yesterday I stopped by a greenhouse and bought 4 tomato plants, basil and rosemary along with a bundle of walla walla onions that I managed to get in the ground before the heavens opened and dumped rain on me.

I also bought a beautiful dwarf canna already sprouted that I'm hoping to put in a small flower bed that I need to make for it.

So I have Sugar Peas, Lettuce, Spinach, and beets planted in my little raised beds and tomatoes and pole beans waiting in the wings. Still waiting for mild temps though. Hopefully by the weekend they say.

It's about time, I say!:rant

Currently on the FL panhandle. 5-6 hours till I reach my new home in E Central FL today. Managed not to encounter any severe weather on the way. We stayed near Canton TX to visit First Monday and that night Dallas got a big storm apparently, but being a bit south we were fine.

@igorsMistress do you know about https://www.facebook.com/AZRFG/ ? I was part of a chapter in California. They are a great resource for fruit trees.
I have bought fig, apple and almond trees from them in the past- they used to have monthly meetings before C-19. They usually have a member grown plant (and seeds) sale for the public in March (and maybe November 2 Saturdays before Thanksgiving?) - last one I knew about was in the Mesa Lehi neighborhood.

Squirrels are not active at night.. was it possibly hogs? It’s spring breeding season and the young boars fight each other and the big boars are really fighting for breeding rights..
Definitely did not sound like a hog... It sounded like squirrels fighting or maybe a coon. I'll see if we hear it again tonight and maybe I can record it. Maybe something disturbed a squirrel nest in the dark? Not sure....

Whats a good way to start broccoli? Ideally I would have sown in trays indoors a month ago, yeah that didnt happen. And direct sowing is iffy here due to the clay content. Trays outdoors?
I sowed some purple broccoli from seed back at the end of January. I planted the seedlings outdoors over a week ago. I think my seedlings are STILL about 4 inches tall, maybe? I also bought some broccoli starts which are WAY bigger than my seedlings. Anyway, just sharing my situation. I'm hoping mine pick up speed on the growth side really soon because at this rate I won't get any broccoli from them until the late fall.

Yeah I actually want a real harvest this year. So I bought a hybrid that can handle heat and cold. Maybe I will have better luck with them.

Watered and pruned the apple trees (one of 2 look alive - waiting on the other one just in case). Noted that the greenhouse seed flats already sprouted some cosmos when I unstacked them... yay cosomos! I've never intentionally started this many flower seeds before (besides sunflowers).
How long did they take to sprout? I put mine outside in pots & see nothing yet. Maybe I should try some indoors. They were seeds I saved from last year so maybe they aren't even viable. :idunno

Planted either Sat nite or Sunday afternoon and saw the sprouts this morning Tuesday. They were in 72-cell flats stacked in unheated greenhouse that I misted directly from well water each day. I'm in mountains of Arizona.
