What did you do in the garden today?

Don’t mind the radishes that are just starting to sprout!

I use shredded daikon radish to thicken my pizza sauce. I threw a hand full of cherry tomatoes in a blender and strained the juice in with 2 large peeled tomatoes, shredded daikon radish, honey, salt, Italian seasoning and simmered it until the daikon turned translucent. I had to put in a little tomato paste to make it red. If I didn't tell the person eating my pizza that I used daikon, they would never know.

I want to know why NO ONE in my area sells San Marzano tomatoes?!?!?! You can get seeds and grow them yourself but NO ONE sells live plants of this variety! Grrr...... I soaked more seeds yesterday in my 3rd attempt to get some to grow. The rest of my tomatoes are doing stellar....

I really liked the idea of bananas that taste like ice cream or vanilla custard. How can you say no to that????

It doesn't taste sweet like ice cream. They kind of taste the same as apple bananas with less tang.

Has anyone had experience growing goldenberries AKA gooseberries? We bought some of them at the grocery store, and as an experiment I put some in a paper towel to see if they would grow. Now, over a month later, they started growing! So I just planted them today. But just wondering if anyone else has grown them? When we saw them at the grocery store that was the first time I’d heard of them.

I’ve used a borax and sugar mix on bad ant piles. Put it in a container tipped to the side so they can get in. Ants are gone in a day if it doesn’t rain.

I drill a hole near the top of a plastic bottle with a cap. The rain can't get in and the ants find it.

Me too. DE can kill the good things in the garden too, which in turn kills the soil in the long run. The alpaca dust baths are dead area of the pasture.
The ants take the borax home as it is sweet and share it with the colony, where it kills the colony.

Yes just rhubarb. They are amazing.
Our neighbor made them for me one year.

I checked on the garden today, everything is growing beautifully. Here’s pictures!

My strawberries. I was disappointed because as I was pulling weeds from the strawberry bed I noticed an ant colony had been living in my strawberry box. I’m not sure what to do about that, any ideas? View attachment 3116285

Ground cinnamon to deter ants. I use it around my beehives.
