What did you do in the garden today?

Does anyone use blood meal to deter rabbits and deer from their garden? How do you apply it, and does it work?
Idk but I found a huge rabbit going through the yard just now so that's 2 critters now that I know are involved....ugh!
We got storms moving through so hopefully we'll get some rain.
Grandson helped me transplant the nasturtium around the flowering cherry tree.

I hope those critters leave it all alone and rain don't wash it all away!
Time will tell.

Is Thyme good for chickens yall?
My neighbor has an abundance of it and literally throwing it out!
So she brought me some and it smells sooooo amazing!!!
So I tied it up in bunches to at least hang in the run.
Thyme is part of an all natural powdered Respiratory Supplement for chickens that I buy at the feed store. I don't have enough fresh thyme to use for my chickens but I would if I did.

I've made mozz with lemon juice before. Nor a big fan of the flavor. There is a Lot of technique that goes into getting a tasty and useable mozz. Worth the try though!
I just tried making mozzarella the other day with regular store bought pasteurized milk and vinegar. I ended up throwing it away, that's when I found out I needed Rennet. However, milk that is fresh from a dairy cow don't need it.

Good afternoon gardeners. Finished off the Spring cleaning yesterday and smoked a 16 pound turkey on the grill. It came out tasty and juicy, not dry at all. Taking it a bit easier today. Took my little buddy Max for his mani pedi, then covered potato stalks with hay. Then I gave all the gardens a good drink of water. Tomorrow morning I need to pick lettuce and do a little more weeding, not to mention tomorrow is also laundry day. But at least the garden work is slowing down a bit for now. Knock on wood, no bug issues right now. Have a great day all.
Your place is so adorable Sarah!

Common sense in my book... 'whoever controls your food controls you'. Tyrants and dictators have made good use of this thru history, no matter what the cause. If we won't learn from history, then experience is the best teacher.
Sad but true. It amazes me how clueless people are, and that a government official is actually pointing out the obvious for folks to boot.

5 inches of rain Fri-Sat, but it was a steady rain, no flooding here. I moved the quail to some larger digs and added the old bedding to the bottom of the raised beds.
This is my first time growing African daisies. Is it normal for them to die from the ground up?
Yep, they shed those leaves quickly. They might fall over at some point too, they make a nice groundcover/flowerbed.
Can someone tell me what this is? When it was a seedling it was labeled as habenero pepper but I don’t think that’s what it is. At least it’s not like any I’ve ever planted before.

Is that full sized? I'd suspect some kind of sweet pepper, even a long bell type if not full grown.
What's the best way to cook sweet potatoes? I hardly ever eat them........
Hash browns and potato pancakes, too
