What did you do in the garden today?

I have an abundance of basil, oregano, okra and egg plant out in my garden, so I put it on my pizza. I skinned the egg plant, and seasoned it with olive oil and garlic salt Then I stuck it in my microwave oven for a 1 1/2 minutes to semi cook it.

I bought stainless steel electric stove covers from Walmart and use it for my pizza. It fits perfectly in my toaster oven (450F for 25 minutes on the middle rack).

The pizza in the picture hasn't been cooked yet......................

Good afternoon all. It’s sunny and breezy today, nothing new. Watered this morning, plan to do it again on Wednesday before the heat ramps up; expect a high of 114 over the weekend. I’m buying or building a parabolic cooker this weekend to expand beyond my sun oven. ‘Tis the season for outdoor cooking and our sun does a good job of it. I have a new feeder coming for the crew that is supposed to be mouse and pigeon proof. I hope so! We don’t have mice, but the flying rats are really annoying.

After a day of mental gymnastics, I think I have figured out where I'm going to plant this new gooseberry (provided it actually grows which is a crap shoot on a DeGroot plant). I just potted it up and put it in this general location for the summer. I will move it into a nice raised bed in October when there is less pressure from the heat.

It's been raining since I got home, so won't be doing much today. The volunteer strawberries have been taking over my flower bed so I attempted to repot some of it. The transplanted plants aren't happy (hope they bounce back) and it barely looks like I made a dent in what was in the flower bed. I did find a tiny red strawberry on another plant in another part of the yard, so there's hope for these :yesss: I might just leave the rest to do as they will until the fall, then move it all somewhere else.

In case anyone was curious, I'm allergic to EVERYTHING.
After the prick test, they came back in to count and measure and the first thing she said as she came in the door was WHOA.
Then asked me if I felt ok. I was itch out of my mind, but so used to ignoring being itchy, I just ignored it. Literally EVERYTHING they tested for. She said there was no pill or spray, or prescription that was going to help me, that my immune system was literally being overwhelmed 24/7 all year around. There is no amount of cleaning, filters, or living somewhere else that will work either. (They only test for midwest stuff since that's where I'm at, but I KNOW I'm also allergic to more things they didn't test here for as I've lived all over - sago, and long leaf pine for one.) The oral allergy and contact allergy problems are just icing on the cake.
Bees, wasps, hornets, scorpions, jellyfish and fireants fall under my serum protein problems.
So shots it is for 5 years.
Makes me want to take my results to every doctor I've had for the past 35 years that treated me like I was nuts or making it up. and slap them silly.

Idk but I found a huge rabbit going through the yard just now so that's 2 critters now that I know are involved....ugh!
We got storms moving through so hopefully we'll get some rain.
Grandson helped me transplant the nasturtium around the flowering cherry tree.

I hope those critters leave it all alone and rain don't wash it all away!
Time will tell.
Still going through the battle of the bunny here too…told DH I was gonna get a slingshot if I ever see him. You threaten my food you threaten me…
And, whoever controls the seed, controls the food.

That's why I'm trying to plant as many heirlooms as possible, to save my own seed. And as many perennials as possible.
Ditto. Order most of my seeds from Baker Creek and Seed Savers. If you plant more than one variety of a vegetable, it will cross, right? This year I’m testing out a bunch and would like to limit to one or two types…but I grow cherry, paste and slicer tomatoes and I don’t know if they would cross with each other. Any suggestions?

If it's any consolation, I used to have bad seasonal allergies. Not as all encompassing as you have, but still bad enough that I spent an entire year thinking I had chronic respiratory illness, before I finally asked my doctor to send me for allergy testing. Anyway, long story short, I did allergy shots for a few years, and now, even years later, the seasonal allergies are barely noticeable anymore. So I'm crossing everything that this works for you. :fl :fl

Welcome, I’m sorry to have you in my world. Chronic hives, contact allergies, nasal allergies, allergic asthma. My dr told me to get rid of my dogs and chickens and rabbits, no gardening. I left and never went back and never had the shots. My immunologist advised against it at the time. Eventually I quit seeing her as well and I’ve been dealing on my own.
