What did you do in the garden today?

Never in my life has it entered my mind to grow peanuts! Probably not possible here, but I'm gonna hafta google that!

I watered stuff - it's so dry I had to water the morning glory vines. The soaker hoses are going now & I ordered some more. My plan was to have a water system in place by this point, but I just keep adding onto the garden so I keep saying I'll do it next year. 🙄 So next year...

I pulled the rattlesnake pole beans - ick. I bet they make a much better dried bean. @Acre4Me do I remember that you planted some this year? Are you using them for dried or eating? I planted more purple poles in their place.

Good afternoon gardeners. Not much to do in the garden now. I did water the other day then pruned the tomatoes some more today. I picked more kale and chard yesterday. This morning I got the laundry going early then mowed the front yard and the chicken yard. It’s dry here again so I watered the peppers, fig tree and apple tree in the front yard. I think I should water the peach tree as well. I have more tomatoes developing and the plants are looking very healthy. There’s a little thunder storm forecasted for tomorrow evening but I don’t expect much rain from it. Fingers crossed.

OMG just had a lawn/pest care company knock on the door.
1: they had to pass TWO large, NO SOLICITORS signs to get down my LONG LONG LONG driveway, and there is another large one by the doorbell.
2: Long spiel about how they do so and so's yard and house, and so and so's neighborhood and treat 3 acres for blah blah blah, and fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, voles, wasps etc. They are pet and bee friendly blah blah blah. BULL cookies.

UM it's the friggen open prairie! If you cannot live out here without weeds and bugs, move back to your sanitary condo in the city.

We have TWO neighbors with 8 acres of weed free, bright green, manicured laws, drives ME NUTS. What they do with their money is their business, but $2400 a year to literally wash down into the creek and into the wells. And I promise these companies cannot keep up with the bugs out here. We are surrounded by parkland and cattle fields.

Kind me said nope, but gave him a gatorade and sent him on his way. Good grief.

Watered thoroughly yesterday evening. Guess I should have taken one last glance at the weather report because of course we got a late thunderstorm. Good chances for rain all this week actually after nothing last week. Flooded my seedlings so I fished them out of the starter pots and planted in the raised beds.

Was going to take a picture of my dragon fruit flower but I'm not sure it fully opened. It was still closed at dusk and wilted first thing in the morning. It's just a cutting anyway, shouldn't be setting fruit yet.

almost 7pm and it's 92 degrees with a dewpoint of 79 degrees. This is revolting. It feels like 108 out, and breathing is hard for the steaming air. The house feels chilly at 76 air conditioned degrees. LOL.
Enough of this.
That's worse than Florida! Last night it actually got chilly as the storm blew in, 35mph wind and hi 70s.

Being From Florida,,,Yep, I know. LOL. The worst we get is a dewpoint in the low 80s during high corn season in August, with temps in the 90s. Then it feels like 118 or so, and that's when the wind stops. It is sickening.

They've been doing that around here too. The sheriff's dept. has been cracking down on it because it has gotten so bad. Most recently it was pest places here too and they insisted they were doing neighbors' homes.
