What did you do in the garden today?

I was sitting with my chickens a few days ago and this guy stops his truck in the street and yells, do you remember me? He said he seal coated my driveway a few years back. Nope, not me. I told him that was an easy job and was quite capable of doing it myself. Seriously?
Maybe he thought it was a different place and he’s not a creeper.

Whatever it is, it ate ALL my chives this week... 🤬🤬🤬 Pulled them underground and ate them. I didn't think goohers liked plants in the onion family but apparently I was wrong. Of course I'm assuming it's a gopher. I still don't know
There are traps you can push into their holes that’ll get ā€˜em. No have a heart, kill. I’d be tempted to sit out there with some snake shot in the .22

Never in my life has it entered my mind to grow peanuts! Probably not possible here, but I'm gonna hafta google that!

I watered stuff - it's so dry I had to water the morning glory vines. The soaker hoses are going now & I ordered some more. My plan was to have a water system in place by this point, but I just keep adding onto the garden so I keep saying I'll do it next year. šŸ™„ So next year...

I pulled the rattlesnake pole beans - ick. I bet they make a much better dried bean. @Acre4Me do I remember that you planted some this year? Are you using them for dried or eating? I planted more purple poles in their place.
You didn’t like the rattlesnake beans? Good to know but why not? Do they taste like Lima beans? Please say no.

Dude could have been up to no good.
Our house is nearly 1/4 mile from the road, built there in the woods on purpose, AND the gate is locked most of the time. The nerve of people ignoring locked gates and no trespassing signs is getting ridiculous. Sorry for the rant.

Tried that but I'd go through a dozen sticky rollers just to do a single blanket.
That is why I suggested cheap wide tape.

Kind me said nope, but gave him a gatorade and sent him on his way. Good grief.
Less kind me would have shown him the sign by the door then closed the door.

Maybe he thought it was a different place and he’s not a creeper.
Or maybe it is just a come-on. You wouldn't want to ADMIT that your memory is so poor that you forgot this guy had sealed the driveway before (even though you have NEVER paid anyone to do it) so you let him talk.

Maybe I just need a hairless dog.... šŸ˜‚
Vacuum the dog? We had a dog that loved it, as long as the brush was on the hose he’d sit and let me vacuum his whole body.

She'd have a heart attack...lol. We've tried to take her to a groomer but most of them around here won't do large dogs. Ours is half Husky-half Great Pyrenees. We love her to pieces but she sheds atrociously...especially in summer. My daughter was giving her baths in the shower and it was clogging the drains because she has SO MUCH hair! Agghh..... We literally vacuum twice a day, not even joking.

Oooh I've never tried growing peanuts before. Is this your first time growing them?
Only the second time. First time I just had a bag of fresh peanuts from the grocery store which weren't getting eaten very quick so I planted some. Ended up with a ten fold return on my investment.
I am getting into cover cropping in the garden with an emphasis on legumes which enrich the soil with nitrogen fixation. A lot of legumes have deep roots which bring up other nutrients, mostly minerals, from down deep and also help modify the clay soil I am blessed with.
Peanuts are a warm weather crop and don't require a lot of water once established and that's what I needed @ this time. I have planted them in an area where corn has already been harvested from.
Plus I like peanuts.
I plan on using them on a regular basis as a soil improver.
