What did you do in the garden today?

If you want a good producing green type, try the Latino from Territorial Seed. It is the best against bugs, grows faster & bigger than the rest, and is usually the earliest. It defended itself against SVB last year after multiple attacks and although branches kept wilting it kept going until late fall. https://territorialseed.com/products/squash-summer-latino

I like to plant 5-6 different types each year for variety, and prefer heirlooms, but I will keep this one in the rotation because it doesn’t die on me. Lol
Thank you for the recommendation - they look delish! Making a note in my garden notes for that.

Got seeds ordered from MIGardener...he had really amazing prices and thought I'd support him since he has given me so much advice via YT lol!
Anxious to see how they'll do for a fall garden!
Gonna turn the planting station into another raised bed, Lord willing! I can use it much better that way and it's free wood from Daughter's new construction so win win! Just have to remove screws and reconfigure but will fit space perfectly!
I do like the prices and varieties at MiGardener. But just be wary, they do on occasion package the wrong seeds in the packets.

Good afternoon gardeners. We ended up with 1.25 inches of rain yesterday and last night. Fortunately the humidity is not all that bad. Today is day one of our 6 day heat wave. It hit 90F about an hour ago. Remember folks, this is New England we’re talking about where men run around in bermuda shorts when it’s 32F outside. Lol! There’s a nice breeze blowing while I’m sitting with my chickens. The garden is doing pretty good. I’m really happy with the tomatoes. The plants are looking really healthy and are producing well. Nothing ripe yet. Likely will all ripen in one big splash of red. The eggplants are blooming but no sign of fruit yet. The okra is really liking this heat as do the bell peppers. I planted more yellow squash and zucchini this morning. Hoping to have better luck tucking them in with the okra and peppers. I have tiny poblanos developing. My peaches are looking good too. I don’t think I’ll have a bumper crop of them like last year. Which is fine with me. I still have several pounds of them in the freezer. At least this dry spell is keeping the grass a little shorter. So I’m enjoying a break from mowing.

Same here! High of 86 in upstate NY, 93 tomorrow and high 80s/low90s for another week. Hopefully tomatoes will ripen quick now, snd thank goodness for rain & the pool for the kids (& me!) I might try to plant my kale starts tonight after dinner if it cools at all, or tomorrow morning early before it gets morbid.

My tomatoes aren't close to ripening. They'll enjoy the nasty heat this week, but it's gonna be a while. They got a stunted start & are not early tomatoes by any means. :hit I would love a BLT!

@Wee Farmer Sarah I love the men in bermuda shorts reference. That's me & DH. When I first met him I saw a pic of him in boat shoes & shorts with snow on the ground. That's when I knew we were meant to be together. :lau I snow blow with just a hoodie on, no coat, no hat, no gloves. - people think I'M crazy!
