I have Silkies, Satins, d'uccles...they dont dig hollows like the big chickens do. They have similar area underneath their coop they hang out in the mornings when sun is on the opposite side of the run...then they got to direct opposite corner of the run for late afternoon sun.

my silkies are diggers, lol.

I put up some shade on a couple tomatoes that were getting sun scald. Probably pull a few more onions. I need to pull some beans too. But it's hot out there. & I have a broody. :smack I have her set up in the shade, but I'll have to put a fan on her.

I made a batch of pickle chips in the dehydrator, they are so good! The first batch was way too salty, I had to throw it out. This batch I used 1/3 of the salt called for & they're much better.

Sounds yummy! I'll have to try making pickle chips!

We got rain overnight! :wee

ripped out a few radishes that did not grow a radish. same for the Kohlrabi, tore off some dandelion greens and fed the chickens with it. My gardening efforts were thwarted again by my lousy soil.
I planted the blackberry I had sitting around since Mai. Bonked my head on the Mammoth Sunflower seedhead. need to cut it for later use. The ladies will like it!

RIP buttercup squash.

The SVB impacted nearly all of those plants. Looks like 2 might not have been impacted. I’ve checked the other exposed squash, and they appear ok. I’ll have to check more closely. Glad we covered the usual targets : summer squash/zucchini and pumpkins. They better be ok.

One cucumber type has gotten wilt, but not all of that type has been impacted (yet).

Over the Last years, we’ve only noticed mostly striped cucumber bugs, but this year I’m seeing more spotted cucumber bugs. They spread bacterial wilt (both types of cucumber beetles), and what ever kind of wilt we have here is bad. The suyo Long seems to be impacted, which has surprised me.
