What did you do in the garden today?

Something is happening to my zucchini plant, and I’m wondering if you guys know what it is.

So a couple days ago I posted my first zucchini on my plant on this thread. Well now it has shriveled up and died. Along with the second baby zucchini I got. I have been giving it an adequate amount of water, not too much, not too little. So I don’t know what’s going on. But get this, now I went out there and was inspecting the plant, and I broke a little dead piece off and there was this little white grub looking thing in it, like eating the plant. I got a picture, but it’s not very good because I accidentally squished the grub. It was white with a little black head. I didn’t see any more grubs, just the one. My question is do you think there’s grubs living in the plant that are killing the zucchini, or is it something else?

Squash Vine Borer. The evilest and most destructive bug for squash. The black & red flies lay eggs on the base of thr plant, which hatch out into small white grubs that turn into big white grubs that eat your plant on the inside. I would get a razor blade and slice lines in the stem so you can look through and remove them all. Cover the sliced stems with plant tape and bury any at the bottom in the dirt. Or pull the whole plant out and burn it. Don’t compost any of it because the larvae can lay turn into the laying bugs for next year.

Went to get my glove cuz I can't squash the big ones barehanded!
Only got one...they didn't even get to die happy. Sorry...NOT Sorry!
Then there was one on my beefsteak tomato plant! Is that not crazy!?

After having a significant amount of trouble with zucchini I have learned that when they look like that it usually means they're not being pollinated and so this year I have switched to hand pollinating all of them the bug issue may or may not be unrelated I can't help you there but that's what that little zucchini looks like to me is an unpollinated female flower

What does it mean when you aren't getting any female flowers?! I've only gotten 4 males on my zucchini period...this is 3rd week like this.
