What did you do in the garden today?

Those look delightful! I've tried elderberry flowers that way but never zucchini...gonna have to try that.

Sugarcane! How exciting! I'm trying sorghum for the first time this year...it's supposed to be pretty sweet...but sugarcane sounds even better ❤️
I've made sorghum. I don't care for it, but the experiment was interesting. It was years ago, so don't ask for details. Lol

At what point do i know my green beans are done for the season?
Also, when will i know my corn is ready? I think its okay to pull back the husk and peek, right?
What kinda beans? There are determinate and indeterminate (of a lot of plants). Determinate Produce lots of fruit, pretty much all @ once while an indeterminate gorws less @ a time but longer. When they stop producing to your expectations is when I remove them from the garden.
On corn, pull back the husk to reveal a couple rows of kernels. Crush a kernel or 2 with your fingernail. If the resulting juice is milky colored it is done, if clear leave it a few days and try again. This usually happens about the time the silks start to turn brown

Layering is putting the vine on the ground and holding it down with dirt or a rock . It will root . Cut it free of the vine after it is well rooted . There is also air layering ( marcotting ) where you put potting mix around the stem and hold it in place with something like plastic wrap or bottle .https://youtu.be/nf6FnQHoevI
Just saw this the other day...I think it helps explain it too...

I think it’s not going to be fun. The leaves re sharp and I don’t have a way to squeeze it and such. I need to read more about it.

Corn. the silks will be completely brown, shriveled.
Sorghum.
It's an easy process, but we have a sorghum press and boiler and we love sorghum syrup.
Crush cane, roll cane, press canes to extract syrup, boil and simmer syrup, filter and fill jars. It's a LONG smokey day.
Did you make the press or buy?

Harvested two "Peter Pan" summer squashes. 😊 May not seem like much, but I have not gardened in years so this is a major milestone.
