What did you do in the garden today?

After bringing this little Sugar Baby in I still have 18 watermelons (some of all 4 varieties I planted) in the garden. At just over 14 lbs this is one of the smallest that was out there. The 4 Charleston Grays are somewhere in the vicinity of 30 lbs each, with the others averaging 20 lbs or so. I estimate I still have roughly 400 lbs of watermelon to pick.

Good morning all. I was up at 0130 so watered the grass. Went back to bed for a little bit, sort of, and then it poured. Lots of thunder and lightning, rain was horizontal. Still some thunder going but the rain has slowed down.

Well mother nature is back to teasing us again. The last 2 rain showers (Tuesday & today) both skipped us but rained heavily everywhere AROUND us. Dang it....

It is supposed to storm at lunch today. Forecast is rain for the next 5-6 days. So I have to run out this morning and harvest the rest of my potatoes in the grow bags. I’m afraid if it actually does rain that they will rot. Will probably harvest whatever else I can & call it a day. No point in weeding before the rain, it will be much easier after and anything there will just grow back anyway. Gotta let the girls out for a bit as well, they can hang out in the roofed run later if it gets bad!

That same thought occurred to me literally right before we got 5.5 inches last weekend. I didn't get to harvest my last 3 beds. Hoping they didn't rot. I'll try to get them tonight.... Fingers crossed!

This is happening right now. For two hours, Thunder rumbling, skies darker/dreary. No rain, on radar appear just a few miles away on a track that may keep it just barely away from us. We are supposed to get showers later…but time will tell if they actually materialize.

I was really mad on Tuesday. It was the ultimate diss... It got really dark. The wind and lightning got so bad, I was worried about trees coming down. I stood in the garage watching it and saw the heavy rain less than a half mile to the west of my house. But as soon as it got maybe a quarter mile from my house, the cell split in half and went Noth and South around us. We didn't even get enough sprinkles to wet the ground while just a half mile around us in every direction got over an inch of rain....

Sweet potato bed filling out nicely, and vining out to the sides

Golden Tortoise Beetle has shown up. literally looks like a spot of molten gold.
