What did you do in the garden today?

It has been pouring and the rain was horizontal for a bit. We’ve lost power and I hear sirens in the distance. Winds are still pretty gusty.
Wow! I was thinking of you because they covered your crazy weather on our news. Did I see it was going to last a couple days too?

Morning all. I need to bring the onions back down to the shop, they're stinking up the house. Smells like one is rotting but I went through them all & they're all fine. Out they go!

I'm going to go get some beans today for dillys, but won't can till tomorrow I think. It's my weekend & I'd like to relax today. Busy time at work, classes start next week so I'm tired.

I watered yesterday & trimmed up the eaten leaves from the rutabaga. I hope they survive the trim, they have new growth so they should be fine. :fl
Shocking, I know, but I don't like mushrooms. It's a texture thing.

Hey all, so I am not a very experienced canner, only have done sauce, salsa & some fruit.

From the garden, what else can I safely water-bath can? I don’t have a pressure canner so I know I am limited but would like to save what I can with it.

Thanks!
Same here!
But I have been determined to do more than I ever have...and so far so good!

Hopefully others more experienced will chime in and give us lots of advice!

I'm excited to be back home! Vacation is nice...but yeah yeah yeah. I can't wait to get coffee finished and clothes on and out there to see how everything did! Paid our sweet neighbor's teen to chicken and garden sit all week.

Yeah, it’s supposed to last all weekend.

I am super bummed about that tree

I bet you are, that stinks. But stay safe, I hope the weekend goes better. :hugs

About to walk into the doctor's office and get two very painful PRP injections for my tendon issues. Will be stuck in a boot for 3 weeks too. Gardening & chicken duty in a boot is no fun... 😕
Ouch!

Thanks, as long as nothing else gets blown over it’s all good. That tree is right up against the car in the driveway, if it had been bigger that would have been bad. Find silver linings lol

they use a lot of chemicals. I would not use that dirt for anything. a cousin of mine grows mushrooms commercially on a small scale. you cannot breathe if you pass by when they spray for disinfection. and they do it often.
It really does depend on if they are "organic" or not. I use mushroom compost in my garden and it does very good with it but it's definitely from organic growers.
