What did you do in the garden today?

Came across this chicknic table on Etsy. You can get it in various colors and wood stains... I love this! šŸ˜

Me too! I've got this on my list of things to make...though I'm not too good at finangling wood making things but hated to buy one when it "looks" simple.

Today is a processing day! Freezing kale & chard, sending beans to a neighbor to pressure can for me in exchange for a 6pk, lol, and water bath canning relish at home!

Good morning gardeners. I hope you tall enjoying the weekend. @TJAnonymous love the table! This morning was productive. When I cut back the two shrubs damaged in the storm I found two small stems coming from the base of one of them so decided to cut down the trunk from the damaged part and let those grow up to replace the red Mexican BOP. The yellow one I can’t save so I soaked it good with the hose to take care of ants and can just about pull it out. I’ll get out there with the shovel tomorrow morning to finish digging it out, but the air moved through the yard better now without that yellow one too. I think I’m going to put more succulents in that area instead a large shrub. Ended up cutting the shade cloth off the old swing frame, going to replace it with 90% shade top to bottom on both sides. It shades the west wall of one of the rooms in summer, plus gives shade and cover to the chickens, but it’ll be time to put up the greenhouse there soon so no point in getting in a rush. Got some contractor bags to finish taking all the straw out of the shade garden. My pepper plant fell over so I don’t think it gets enough sun now, just going to yank it, I’m over the garden this year, it has been full of disappointment. The night blooming jessamine is recovering after I moved the bark mulch under some yellow bells next to it so that’s good news, and the banana plants are still alive. I’m happy that I procrastinated about the rosemary bush after I cut a bunch of it back. I’ve decided to try making it into a tiny tree after I learned a bit about where to trim and why from a video on YouTube. I need to do some more trimming and see what it looks like under all the growth still left.

Having my husband here to help made pounding in the support stakes, putting up the trellis, and tying up the tomatoes MUCH easier and quicker!
Before (most of the vines and tomatoes were in a pile on the ground due to the support being structurally unsound because of moles):

After (added two support posts for the main trellis pole, and added a center trellis pole):

SO much better! I have a pathway again! Is anyone else already dreaming about next year's garden?
Those look amazing.
Everytime I see people's tomatoes on here I literally drool. I'm going to dream of mountains of fresh, ripe tomatoes tonight!
Then I'll go out to my garden and eye my little baby tomato plants and sigh 🤣

Can you tell me what conditions your night blooming jasmine like? I got some seeds from a sweetheart here and they're starting to sprout. I've never grown them before.

I’m not getting notifications on this thread, not sure why! So, trying to catch up on the posts.

Garden is well watered due to rain yesterday and today.

Everything is slowing down. Here are the sweet potatoes looking pretty lush, even a flower at bottom of pic.

Same bed, but further to the right. I’m seeing one variety getting ā€œoldā€ looking with leaves looking less nice. Maybe it’s getting ready to finish for the season. Wonder what we will find under there in a few weeks? Hopefully sweet potatoes.

Thank you! I felt the same way about everyone else's cucumbers! My plants just never took off this year, then seemed to get some kind of disease, so I pulled them and burned them. My summer squash and tomatoes are very happy, though.

I’m in the desert so it’s under 50% shade year round. Due to sun angle, fall through early spring it gets quite a bit of direct sun but the temps are cooler so it should handle it. This is the first year I’ve grown it here, but I had one in So Cal that was in similar conditions and it was quite happy. ETA I water it really well once a week in summer, but sometimes go as long as every two weeks in winter depending on the temps.
