What did you do in the garden today?

Wet weekend! Rained yesterday, today, and will again tomorrow. Right now it’s raining on the heavy side.

The spinach I planted awhile ago is growing rather slowly- I haven’t grown any for a couple of years, so maybe it’s typical.

The peas are quite happy - two of the four varieties are beginning to flower!

So far, No molting feathers apparent in the run. But, I’m sure we will soon have quite a few feathers dropped- wonder if I’ll have any “naked” chickens this year- so shocking when they lose most of their feathers in one go.

I miss rain. We're 5 inches below normal at the moment and the cracks in the fields are wide enough now to step into and are DEEP.

My cucumber plants are spent. The zucchini plants got decimated by cut worms. I only got about 5 of 6 zucchini from them. The green beans are done. The Roma & San Marzano tomatoes have slowed down a lot as well as the cherry tomatoes. Never got anything except for 1 large grape sized eggplant off of 3 eggplants.
I have 1 jalapeño plant that is doing great and 2 that aren’t doing much at all. The Luffas are still going strong. I have at least 12 large luffas growing on the 1 vine. The Jerusalem Artichoke still hasn’t flowered ( nor does it look like it plans too 🤷). The cantaloupe have a few flowers but I’m not seeing it set any new fruit.
I let the vining milk weed grow all over my garden this year. In years past I kept it to the fences. This year it grew on tomatoes and the luffa. In years past I saw at least 5 Monarch caterpillars, this year I didn’t see any. 😞. The aphids ( when they arrived ) stayed in the milkweed and not on the veggies.
I think my best producers this year were the onions. 😁
The cucumbers I feel like I did a disservice too as I let a lot of them sit and go bad in the refrigerator 😞.
I’m not a fan of pickles but I do like pickle relish but I didn’t make any this year.
The tomatoes did so-so. I made a couple batches of salsa but not canned tomatoes. I do have 3 gallons of Romas in the freezer still.
My garlic disappeared 🤣 just like every year. I plant it in the fall ( sometimes in the Spring ) and then I never see any evidence of it again. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve tried in the ground and in raised beds.

I remember a lot of stuff was going on for you this summer,; hopefully next year will be better!

Does anyone have one of these trimmer mowers? Do they work pretty well?
I have a similar one, I bought it from the local pawn shop for pretty cheap. It's maybe not as heavy-duty as the one you posted, it uses .095 line and doesn't take a blade. But it works great! It would definitely cut down the area you posted. Mine cuts down tall, tough grass, blackberry vines, brushy areas. I don't use it near the fence, because it can bend and twist the wire, doesn't break it, though.

I don't. I use it other places. My tools for the garden are the dullest, dirtiest things (when I can find where I've left them) on the planet.

I do use it elsewhere, activated and inactivated, like in the henhouse and greenhouse.
@igorsMistress

If I were to do it on garden tools, activated, I'd wash the tools with water first, lay them out, and use a sprayer to wash them down.

Thank you, I can relate to leaving tools around lol. I have to hunt for things sometimes :gig

I got some oxine for the coop and waterers/feeder as a switch from something else I was using but was wondering if I could use it on my tools. I have some Lysol household cleaner so I’ll use that.

Ditto!
Is there anything that will get rid of this insanely growing vine that takes over everything?!
Apparently here too. I had no idea even cuz its so thick it doesnt spread and looks like regular grass. Trying to get it taken care of. We'll see 🤞🤞
