What did you do in the garden today?

Where can I fins more info about this? I need to find SOMETHING that works better for my gut.
I found out about sugar in “The Sugar Documentary” (either amazon or netflix was where I found it). The fast is called intermittent fasting. There many different ones, but in general it’s 8 hours ok to eat, 16 to fast. I eat from 11am to 7pm. I’m never hungry for breakfast so I eat something small at 11, lunch around 1 or 2, and dinner around 5:30 or 6. Only rule I follow is no added processed sugar. As much fruit as you want. I limit carbs to dinner meals but you don’t have to. Mostly it ends up being fruit, veg, dairy & meat. I have a slight reaction to gluten, but fresh sourdough bread made without yeast doesnt bother me. If I read the label and it says “added sugars”, (or sucrose, corn syrup, fruit juice, agave, dextrose, fructose, aspartame, sucralose, stevia, xylitol…sweeteners), I don’t buy it. I do make concessions for real local maple syrup on occasion, or real honey from our farm hive in tea, but only on occasion because I know it’s real. And I do have dessert on Sunday or cake at birthdays, so I don’t go completely crazy! I had a problem, a bad problem. Like addiction to crack but with sugar…highs & lows, depression…but I sleep better now, have stable moods, and lost about 10 pounds. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions! 😊

The biggest place I struggle with sugar is my iced coffee. The place I go puts lots of caramel syrup in it. It's sooooooo good. I'd be so disappointed if I couldn't drink it.

I wonder if you could find a non-sugar flavoring? Coffee was very hard, DH drinks it black. I now add only unsweetened vanilla almond milk and cinnamon for flavor. I trained myself by drinking a few sips black (blech!) for a few weeks, but then adding the milk after made it so much more bearable. 😂 I once tried the old French Vanilla creamer from international delight, and had to spit it out (it tasted weirdly like chemicals).

I use zero-sugar vanilla creamer at home... But the zero sugar versions of caramel (itself - burned sugar 😂) just don't taste the same. I also use stevia and monks fruit sweeteners instead of cane sugar. It's the syrup that makes the difference with the iced coffee. In that case I find you just can't mess with perfection. 😂

You just need to find good coffee. I roast my own, I also sell green coffee for others to roast online. Most the stuff you get in stores, including charbucks is burnt glop. HORRIBLE! try finding a local coffee roaster who is not a fanatic of second crack and see what the have for you.

I buy coffee beans (already roasted) from a local artisan shop and then grind them myself. I do buy store bought on occasion if I can't make it the hour away where the shop is located. But the iced coffee I'm referring to above is from a little mom & pop shop down the street from our church. We go there every Sunday. It's a ritual.... 😁

Well, I am in Zone 3b, and despite planting lots of pepper plants, I really don't get all that many peppers. I think our temps are too cool and the growing season is too short. My best producing peppers are Sweet Banana peppers. But they are done for the year about a week ago with the last picking.

I had seen that YouTube video before, and that is what I might try. Honestly, I don't know of anyone around here that overwinters pepper plants, but I might try it.

:lau TOO MANY peppers!? That's hard to imagine from my perspective.
Mine too! Although I still have habaneros in the freezer that I grew 5 years ago!

I have had luck with the carmel taste by warming maple syrup for my iced coffee. It's not as gooey but I know it's not white burnt sugar. I've tried with a warmed honey/ boiled apple cider blend.. worked well with light coffee. Summer time favorite is blueberry syrup with iced coffee. It's super odd but so refreshing.

Did you get any rain drops!? My skies lied and lied even had distant thunder and lightening but no rain. It's nice autumn decided to rush in. I'm definitely not upset by it. By Monday I'll have all the windows open and start the before winter deep clean lol. Guess I just like being busy.
