What did you do in the garden today?

She started flying at the fencing looking for weak spots and squawking like I was trying to murder her. What a drama queen.... 🙄

These are all black seeded loofah. I probably have over 100 seeds just from one loofah and I will end up collecting 2 dozen loofah by the end of the season. So lots of seeds... I'll just feed them to the hens and squirrels if no one wants them. Whatever I don't save for next year anyway....

I wish I was near you... never heard of black seed loofah. the white one they sell here are hard to find and usually out of date (didn't sprout).

This is the most millennial commercial I have ever seen.... 😂

The millennial and Gen-Z people I know look at that junk with scorn.
^^Oh, too true.

But then every now and then, I meet kids who are well-behaved, respectful, polite, curious, and interesting. It gives me a glimmer of hope. But there seem to be so few of them, it's just a glimmer.
The young people in my family are like that, and my workplace employs lots of young people, and almost every one of them is polite and respectful, just like you describe.
Many of them are also extremely intelligent, curious, interested in science and history, willing to listen and learn, and respectfully share their interesting viewpoints, some of which I understand more than they do and others I learn from them.
More than a glimmer, I have a ton of hope that these next generations are capable of making our world more humane, peaceful, safe and fun!

I can still send you some if you want... I know seeds and plants across borders can get tricky but as long as we properly declare, it should make it through. I don't think loofah is considered an invasive species

Lol, Crazy chicken. 😆

I would love to swap some seeds with you. I didn't grow any of my own this year and the Loofah that was given to me has white seeds.
I have plenty that I can send you in return.
I have tons of luffa seeds I'll send you. no swap needed. LOADS of them. sending seeds withing the us isn't hard. only restrictions are really to oregon, washington, california and hawaii and they're usually invasives and fruit trees/bushes

If georgia has to deal with kudzu, it can handle luffa.

I would love some luffa seeds! I've never grown them but just like the EWO I have to grow all the cool stuff you guys do. :lau I would totally appreciate whoever wants to send me some! 🥰 I love the idea of using them to clean feeders/waterers & then composting.

Still not well enough to do any gardening but I really need to get the garlic in. Hopefully in the next couple days.

Ugh... It's killin' me. Just spent 2 hours watering everything. No end in sight. I'm sure those of you in California are saying "hold my wine...." but an Extreme drought is unheard of in Arkansas in October. 😭

If you use a live trap, make sure you anchor it down, if the coon has any age to it or is savvy which it sounds if the alarm didn't scare it, it will flip the trap over to trip it, and dump the bowl of whatever food is in it, and then just pick it out of the screening to eat it. yes they are that smart some of them.
I'll keep this in mind for the next time I need to trap some, thanks. They didn't try that trick last spring, fortunately, and I wouldn't have thought of it until I saw it done.

I caught 1 groundhog and 2 raccoons. I was hoping to catch the one that had taken up residence in the pole barn, but nope.

Way behind on reading posts. After the hurricane passed the humidity backed off, now it's dry enough for powdery mildew to take hold so I've been spraying diluted whey on the squash plants. Still picking squash and asparagus beans. Tomatoes are growing well but no flowers yet. Might have cukes soon. Have picked a few mulberries but this variety is small, once the tree is a bit bigger I'll have to graft it. Tomorrow I'm planning to get the trimmer out to the acreage to start tackling the weeds.
