What did you do in the garden today?

Did you try going to a "bagel macher"? My father went to this weird ex KGB chiropractor who was a back fixer, they called him the "Bagel Macher" and I bet you have a few of them in the USA.
He basically breaks your back again and reasabmles it. He also fixed my mother's heel spur. He worked on pretty much the entire village.
Well that sounds just awful! 😂

Aaron, are you getting a new cervical or lumbar disc this time? I'm getting L4/L5 now - a disc replacement (not a cage that you think of for a fusion) & a fusion. My facet is broken & slipped & the disc herniated, the only way is to fuse the facet. The disc above & below are herniated too, but hopefully they aren't the majority of my pain.

The weather has been amazing, I do wish I had left the beans up! My lettuce is finally growing a touch. So weird, never seen lettuce take months. 🙄. The volunteer sungolds that came up near the chicken run are still producing tomatoes! That's crazy for Nov 4.

I need to get a bale of straw, last year they were, I think, 12 bucks. Can't wait to see what one is this year! I need to put up some more plastic on the run - I won't be able to snow blow this year so to help DH out I will try & cover it a little better to keep snow out so they have a little more covered room. I won't be able to lift over 10 lbs & the thought of walking on ice after surgery, even with cleats, scares the crap out of me so DH is it.

Ordered sugar so the blubarb jam is happening tomorrow.

Off to breakfast with mom, have a great day all.

Sue my biggest issue is the Lumbar, that one sends lightning bolts down my legs and I'll literally wake up in the middle of the night with a cramp so hard my leg muscle feels like a rock and it's actually tore / bruised before from the cramps, the doc says its because the nerves getting pinched, but they can't be entirely sure.. whatever. I just get so tired of being in pain sometimes. I want to be pain free but not fkd up stoned on drugs. I hear marijuana can help but because I DO still work, on occasion, I have to meet Federal / DOT standards, so no weed for me, leaving the narcotics. They can tailor weed so it will 'ease pain' but not make you stoned, so they say, why the hell can't you do that with the frickin opoids then? or something? I mean you make all these synthetic ones to make them stronger, can't you make them so they are less stonier?? My neck is not as bad, that one, I get migraines from and sometimes I wake up and can't feel my arms, or use them if it's real bad, they feel like they totally fell asleep, like they have been totally nerve blocked. I'll have to twist back and forth for a few minutes with my arms flapping trying to wake them up, (which of course then sets off my back), Right now im hoping the shot in the neck fixes that one for another half year or so, and the lower back, well, I just know that once the weather turns cold in earnest, like january out here, that one is going to need more 'attention' but just gets worse every year. Im also loaded up with arthritis and looking at x rays from some years ago .vs. the one I had when we did that procedure. Were both looking at the screen, he moves the flouroscope down and we can look at everything, then pull up the ones from like 4 years ago and you can SEE the arthritis just piling up, so that's going to be something else to contend with too.

Narcotics can give you digestive issues as well, which we need not get into here, that is an entirely whole other topic and not a fun one either... so you really don't want to just 'take another pill'.... really, you don't.

I got injured in the navy, back in early 80's so first they didn't really have the tech to see spinal injuries like a compression, or even know much about them. I got hit on the head by a falling, light pole, which split my head open, gave me 16 stiches and put me to my knees, with blood pouring down the side of my face.

The mentality back too was, oh it's just a minor wound, walk it off pussy... so being 19 - 20 years old, that's essentially what I did, not having a clue the time bomb that was set off in my spine. Fast forward another 20 years to about the year 2000, riding in a RHIB, (stiff hulled boat with a HUGE motor and inflatable walls around it) we took a real bad wave, so sitting down, got tossed about 5 - 6 feet in the air, still in the seated position, then came landing back down on a rock hard solid ass seat, still in the sitting position. The moment I landed I knew i hurt myself, the guy next to me actually broke his back.

Was in traction or whatever you want to call it for a while with an agonizing back they called a 'severely pulled muscle', the military really will never EVER admit to an injury they caused unless they absolutely have to, because that means liability then. But we know it was more than a 'pulled muscle' now. It just gave a booster shot to the damage set up back in the 80's. After that, lets add 16 years working at a power plant as basically an operator / maintainer, doing heavy mechanical work, climbing all over on top of, up under, inbetween and along stuff, and here I am today... injured with both sides wanting to point the finger to who is at fault.

Thankfully though I have been blessed and have had wonderful doctors and medical support to keep on top of all of this through the 'Degenerative Years' I'll call it. I DO have insurance thankfully because I DID push it through and retired out of the Navy with 21 years, (thats another thing, you can't bitch too hard if you are hurt, they'll just kick you out and now you got basically nothing for all your effort)... and yes, lets be honest, my Pride had a significant play in that too, I didn't want to be seen as a deadbeat. I see people every day who had arms blown off, legs missing, eyes gone, their brains scrambled because a bomb blew up under them and threw them 40 feet, and here I am, still able to get around without too much help, and Im going to bitch how bad I have it and demand money? umm NO !! That's not the way I was brought up.

Even though I am slow and creaky, and grumpy when I get up, when I look into those little beady eyes on those feathered heads, or they come walking up to me crawl up my arm and rub their heads on my cheek and make 'happy noises', somehow it makes it all worth while.

Aaron
