What did you do in the garden today?

god some 4 x 8 food foam insulatlion pads to lay over the tilapia pond to help close it off to hold heat in when the weather is cold. Bought a few 48 volt immersion heaters to heat it as well when aux heat is needed, i'll use them as diversion heaters from my solar array when everything is charged and nowhere else to put the power. used to sell it back to the power company, but they started playing games with the reporting and want to 1099 that now to do everything they can to fk anyone doing it by themselves. The law is flawed so that even if you sold them power at noon and bought it right back at 6pm it's all income and you can NOT write any of the buy back off as an expense. AFAIAC they can eat my #%t im going totally off grid, when the town goes dark not my #% problem. I got power.

Theres a proper way to do solar so EVERYONE benefits but neither side wants that. God knows ive tried to talk to all sorts of people about this, BOTH sides are getting their graft money off the 'green' and god forbid you show a way to trickle it down to the little people. It's all greed, I want the whole pie and Ill piss on the entire thing rather than share ANY of it with you mentality. My tilapia will be happy and then Ill be happy when they are in my belly. There, a win/win situation.

Afternoon Gardeners Kinda doing turkey will cook. It is a young bird
we bought, green beans in onion soup with cornbread dressing.
I bought new grow bulbs.. We have a room here spare bed it will be the green house this year. Starting my garden in there.
I have a spare room I want to convert into a green house but more of a permanent one. put up the grow lights and stuff, but don't need the po po thinking im growing weed.

Oh what KIND of mushrooms ARE those??? At one time I was thinking of building a big aviary for the rottentoo but he'd probably chew a hole in the wall and be outside tormenting the chickens the moment i turn my back, so that idea is on hold :D

Instead of burning a ton of watts on all sorts of grow bulbs, I was looking into the led ones, I have tried using them as bulbs for when I do start things here but they really don't seem to work as good as the flourescent ones or the incandescent ones. I did some of my own research on them and using instruments from our cal lab, was able to determine that the 'helpful rays' really are only about a foot away from the bulb at max, after that they drop off pretty exponentially. Same as Uv B for lizards, so am thinking thats part of the issue too, the lights have to just about be IN the plants to get the same intensity the sun gives. One day ill figure it out and have a nice greenhouse to keep my 'sensitives' growing in and not have to worry about frost.
