What did you do in the garden today?

Finally got most of the leaves blown out of the backyard today. Temps in the 40’s and only an occasional light breeze. Stashed the lawn chairs in the potting shed. I still have the 16 foot garden bed to finish cleaning and raking. Grabbed parsley, thyme and sage out of the herb garden for seasoning turkey tomorrow. I was also gifted a nice egg from one of my Buff Orpington’s. This is a record. This is a 2 1/2 yo hen. Bless her crazy little heart. Wishing all my fellow gardeners a great Thanksgiving Day.

Out of curiosity where do you blow them to?
Why don't you compost them or are we talking like truckfulls of leaves?
back in another life Id just pile them up in a corner by the fence and let them do their thing and every so often go grab a few shovels full of the dirt over there.

Maine Potato Lady is taking orders for next spring now. I got onion sets from her last spring, and am getting a pound of Red Baron sets for next year. I'm also going to try again with sweet potatoes.

I grew them once, a couple years ago, and got nada. Well, if she can grow these in Maine, I should be able to grow them here in Michigan. I hope.

Dang. I don't recall what variety I chose. A reddish skin with orange flesh. :gig

Don't give up on her. My 8.5 year old hen has given me 7 eggs since May. LOL. She was making broody noises the other day when I gave her sunflower seeds. I told her to hush, she's retired. :lau

god some 4 x 8 food foam insulatlion pads to lay over the tilapia pond to help close it off to hold heat in when the weather is cold. Bought a few 48 volt immersion heaters to heat it as well when aux heat is needed, i'll use them as diversion heaters from my solar array when everything is charged and nowhere else to put the power. used to sell it back to the power company, but they started playing games with the reporting and want to 1099 that now to do everything they can to fk anyone doing it by themselves. The law is flawed so that even if you sold them power at noon and bought it right back at 6pm it's all income and you can NOT write any of the buy back off as an expense. AFAIAC they can eat my #%t im going totally off grid, when the town goes dark not my #% problem. I got power.

Theres a proper way to do solar so EVERYONE benefits but neither side wants that. God knows ive tried to talk to all sorts of people about this, BOTH sides are getting their graft money off the 'green' and god forbid you show a way to trickle it down to the little people. It's all greed, I want the whole pie and Ill piss on the entire thing rather than share ANY of it with you mentality. My tilapia will be happy and then Ill be happy when they are in my belly. There, a win/win situation.

Sorry that you have to deal with that dirty (bleep). Luckily our state legislature passed a law saying whatever kilowatt hour rate the power company is charging you is exactly what they must pay you for any power sold to them. They screamed and threw a tantrum about it but so far it has not changed.
