What did you do in the garden today?

Well. they are predicting temperatures of about 20 degrees by the end of the week. Historically I tend to be about 3 to 5 degrees colder than the prediction. This means temps in the teens.

Going to fix a few holes in the cackle coop so they don't have that horrible wind blowing thru and getting the blankets out to cover the coop with. Getting all the plants staged at the garage so I can wheel them in for the night, well hell it's going to be about a week of this crap.

The tilapia pond I have a cover for and got a heater for it, so will probably fire that thing up tomorrow and just let it burn, try t build a buffer up so if it drops a bit during the night, it won't drop enough to kill them off.

going to cover the beehive bottoms and hope we don't freeze them out. The plants in totes, they are gone. THIS is good though, get me a hard, you are outta here on all of them so I don't feel bad rooting stuff up to clean up the summer sprawl.

Next few days are going to suck, hope I don't lose too many trees again like I did a few years ago. This will probably be the coup de gras that takes down my blood orange for the season. Hopefully they sweetened up enough by now to harvest.

I got to stop buying tomato seeds! This is the last tomato seed packet I am going to buy, The improved heirloom Rutgers are determinate type that grow 48 inches, so I had to get them..........I couldn't help myself even with the $5 shipping for a pack of seeds, it cost more than the seeds. However, I think I can make my own seeds since its heirloom and not a Hybrid, so its worth it to me.
OMG Amazon ripped me off, Etsy has free shipping https://www.etsy.com/listing/136616...3112&msclkid=7e5565dd7861146fc786067974fc07af

I have a feeling that path of cold weather is going to turn out being half the country.
I got my coffee roaster set up as a 10K aux heater so I can heat my tilapia if i need. i have an old radiator and a 12 volt pump. (the radiator is lead free don't worry) I turn on the roaster so hot air blowing across radiator which I am pumping the cold water thru, which turns it into hot water that I drop into the tilly tank. Not the most energy efficient but it can be FAST. Just recirc the tilapia tank thru that to keep them warm. I honestly don't see the temperature crashing THAT hard on the tilapia tank, even with it being windy it still should hold fairly good. It's good that I only have maybe 10 fish tops, that way, a catastrophic failure I can throw them all into a 48 qt cooler and bring inside or something, or even if they die, i got fish for my new years party.
