What did you do in the garden today?

Anyone know what type of Heirloom tomatoes are in the picture? I always wanted to try a Heirloom tomato, but never could get over the $7.99 price per pound. I just ate a greenish purple one like in the picture, but it was fully ripe and soft. I got 3 delicious tomato sandwiches out of it, and got about 25 seeds from one slice. I bought these to taste and grow. I can't wait for the ones in the picture to get fully ripe.

I feel like the seed germination of these fresh heirloom tomatoes will be better than the old seeds at Lowes. I bought a packet of Heirloom tomato seeds from them a couple of weeks ago and they didn't sprout.

The green & red striped one looks like it could be a Berkeley Tie Dye. I grow them and they are delicious!

those he machines plain suck, they don't put enough water in to wash the clothes properly. they come out smelling like ass because they didn't have enough water to rinse the parfoom da anus out of your skivvies properly !!

I find that using like a heavy item or deep clean or heavy duty setting tends to get more water, or a deep fill option, which actually helps very little. BUT the key thing is, they go by weight to determine what you got. so one little hack is put your clothes in, and then take an extra gallon of water and slowly pour it over the clothes in the machine, try to soak as much into the clothes as you can w/o it dribbling down into the very bottom where'd it be sucked out. what that does is add about 8 lbs to the weight so it wants to give it a lot more water then.

If your machine is one of those GE bravos?? is it, they are total pieces of garbage, so many recalls and angry pissed off people because of the failure rate on them and just a horrible design.. i hate to say this but if that is what you got, get another one before you blow an aneurism swinging a sledge hammer at the garbage heap.

I like the efficiency thing of it but NOT if it is NOT cleaning my clothes properly.

My machines are great actually. The clothes seem cleaner, the spin cycle works better, I love it! It’s not a front loader or a GE, it’s a top loading LG. I don’t buy GE anything, past experience has taught me well.
cleaning the machine is a load of crap. wasting electricity, hot water, and time. and those stupid ass cleaning soap balls they want you to make a mortgage payment on!
it's steel and plastic. not like you slaughtered livestock in there ffs. Every time you use bleach, you sterilize it. slooshing and spinning around in an empty machine is rediculous imo. you want clean, throw a few white towels into a hot cycle with half a cup of bleach. there, some laundry done and machine cleaned, though it didn't need cleaning anyways. or do your bedding with hot water. your sheets will do MUCH better with hot water if you really want them clean. There's a LOT of stuff to make sheets dirty, without you having to do the dirty either, just the natural oils from your body / hair etc will do it.

seriously though if you are getting ANY kind of buildup in your machine of slime, grease, soap scum etc, something is going very wrong.

we are on city water, very hard. I clean my machine once a month with something to get the lead out.

It's 70 degrees outside... With this type of heat, those storms will be severe. And I can't find my dang pruning shears... Need to buy new ones anyway because mine are dull and don't want to sharpen no matter how much I try. In the process of looking for them, I realized the yacon rhizomes I am overwintering in the garage are covered with mold... 🤬 I just sprayed them down with bleach water... Hoping the mold doesn't kill them before spring.
Increase air circulation with a fan blowing near them. Don't let it blow directly on them as that may dry them out to much. I do this when drying beans and curing potatoes. I hardly ever see mold anymore.

I've grown Berkley Tie die too. Tastes great! There are many similar looking tomatoes. Could be any one of so many.
The darker one reminds me of Black Krim. It's one of my favorites.

@CNJ, If you want to save tomato seed, heirlooms, or open pollinated ("OP") are the way to go. That means they aren't hybrid and will breed true. You probably knew this, but just in case...

I rarely buy seed from a store anymore. Sometimes from a garden center, rarely from the grocery store or big box.

Here are the places I buy from, in no particular order:
Baker Creek
Sow True Seed
Seed Savers Exchange
Tomato Fest
Maine Potato Lady (for seed potatoes and onion sets)

That might be hard to do in the garage but I might move them into the house later and I can do it inside

Went down to the garden to check the rain gauge to see how much we got yesterday only to discover my cylinder is shattered. 🤬 I guess maybe it broke due to the freeze? Not sure.

I also had to run my dog to the vet this morning. I'm pretty sure the little turd ate one of the legs off a dog toy. He keeps coughing and acting like he's going to puke but nothing comes up. Vet couldn't find it on the x-ray but there is a little bit of enteritis although that could be from the small bit of ham I gave them last week & yesterday. 🙄

And today is my first day back to work after vacation. I'm still mentally checked out.... Need to reboot my brain.

Oh yeah, almost forgot.... I also discovered this morning that my lemon tree is INFESTED with spider mites. 🤬🤬🤬 I sprayed it down with insecticidal soap (castile soap & neem oil). It had just recently started losing leaves in the past few days. But there's so much dog hair wafting through the air by that window that I thought it was Freya's hair and didn't realize it was webbing until I looked closer. Hoping I can get it to rebound quickly.
