What did you do in the garden today?

I’ve been wondering about the wool balls, been debating on buying some & now I think I will! @WthrLady is there a particular oil you like to use or do you just get whats around? I’ve been using some special detergent that is lemon scented but love the idea of using it on the dryer balls.

Lemongrass is my go to. Citrus-y without smelling like pledge. Just a bottle I picked up at whole foods (only place I can get scent oils here)
Dryer balls I like Friendsheep band.

I used a can of tuna with its juices to 1 can of cream of mushroom and thicken it with ground light chicken stuffing. I squeezed one small lime and put in 1/2 tsp of sugar to balance it. I got this idea from the Ohio chicken sandwich. Other people might not know its a tuna sandwich. It taste better with the tomato served as a side dish instead of on the sandwich.

I also used a pizza pan with parchment paper to cook buns to fit a slice of tomato for plain tomato sandwiches.

Going on a husband rant for a moment... 🤬

I went outside to look around because I thought something might be attacking the chickens. I had let them out to free range today. They were all huddled under their little run-in shed inside their run. They don't usually ALL go hide there unless something scared them. So I shut them in the run (getting close to dusk anyway) and hopped on the 4 wheeler to go look around the property and see if I see feathers anywhere or any predators. Saw a cat but nothing else... However when I turned the 4 wheeler on, I immediately noticed that it didn't sound right. I have an auditory processing disorder though so it is next to impossible for me to locate sound direction. I can hear something but can't tell where it's coming from. As I drove it around the farm, it sounded worse. Almost a tinny sound or like some flap or shield was vibrating really badly. I drove it back to the shop and went inside. DH was home from work. I told him that something was wrong with the 4 wheeler. He immediately got irritated and said something to the effect that he doesn't know how to fix a 4 wheeler. My husband is perfectly capable of fixing older vehicles (pre-computer everything). We used to have a '99 Jeep Wrangler. He and DS were always fixing that dang vehicle. Same with our 2005 Mustang GT. So I was annoyed when he acted that way but thought "whatever, I'll take it somewhere then..." I looked up a small engine repair shop that was nearby. Sent DH the number and asked if he would at least call them and set up a time to take it over so they can look at it.

His response? "Well I want to look it over first before someone else does...."

I just want to slap the back of his head, I swear....

That said, the three drops on one ball lasts me LOADS, like 4 dryer runs before I even THINK about adding more.
Also, I use it on one ball. And I toss that ONE ball in the dryer in the last 5-10 minutes, I don't run it the whole load.
AND the drops go on when I load the machine, so the EO is sucking into the ball for like 30-40 minutes before I even toss it in.

OMG that is my life story - gonna hafta google that!

On the DH thing - I was so impressed with mine today, he came in all worried saying Red hasn’t laid an egg in 3 days. Impressed he knows who red is & what her eggs are! I told him its ok, the poor old girl deserves a few days off. She is a 4 year old RSL that still lays every couple days, she’s a machine.

Good info, thank you. I’m almost as allergic & sensitive as you are to thing so good to know.

Dreary day here. I need to see if anything is happening to my lettuce, I keep forgetting to check on it.

Ya’ll should just call me Aaron. I had to go in for a cortisone shot in my shoulder today. The one that was fixed 6 years ago. It’s getting worse & worse every day. Because 2 back surgeries in the last 3 weeks wasn’t enough. 😰🤕 Not enough hardware in me already for the universe? 😡
(Back pics for ya)

Sorry to complain to the garden thread with completely non garden stuff!

Dumb question, i know, but is there anyway I can save all my dahlia bulbs if I don’t plant them this year? Some were from my neighbor that passed away & I hate to let them go but I will not be able to plant them this year.
I have shared this info before. FYI dahlia tubers are edible like potatoes .
