What did you do in the garden today?

Pollen numbers for yesterday, plus I took manure and manure dust to the face at least 32 times in the high wind. No wonder my sinus' are going insane today from yesterday.

It's done snowing but the winds are still gusting to 50.
I've got heirloom tomato seeds soaking in kitchen jars. Seed starting starts in just 12 days!

You would never survive here. We call pollen, Georgia snow here. Lol

Today we spread some compost around the fruit trees, started to spread a fresh layer of wood chips through the food forest, started a batch of fermented honey garlic, and I kicked out my frost sensitive plants hopefully for the last time this season! We're both exhausted but I'm excited to finally be catching up.

Looks like my amaryllis is finally going to bloom again too!

i HAVE LIVED down there, and all over the US.
The point was, it was MARCH 15th. We're in drought, and 7 growing season weeks behind you. We haven't even STARTED our pollen season yet. They are actually tracking pollen due to its early start two weeks early due to how high it is this early. On top of my allergy shots three days ago, my poor immune system is in overload.

I hope you feel better

Consider wearing a mask. When I mix potting soil, it is SO dusty. I had to stop and go get a mask.

Good point. Safety first. As it turns out, I do have dust masks for those jobs AND I do use them! IIRC, the vermiculite has a warning label on the package to use a dust mask because you don't want to get any of those fine fibers in your lungs.

:tongue My lungs got damaged when I was serving overseas for the US Navy. So, I am very protective of my body. Also, while working as an RN in my post military life, we had to cover up and protect ourselves, and our patients, all the time. I don't have any problems wearing protective gear.

I even wear a dust mask when mowing the lawn for the first couple of times after winter. The lawn is full of dead grass and some leftover leaves from the previous fall. I will be covered in dust from head to foot because the riding mower kicks up so much dust.

⚠️ Thank you for pointing out the use of dust masks when handling these dusty, dry, products. We all need to remind each other. It's never a problem until it's a problem....
