What did you do in the garden today?

I also up-potted my Honey Mesquite seedling and the 2 Pink Mimosas that germinated. I gotta decide when to transplant them into the pasture... I don't want the weeds to crowd them out or the horses to eat/trample them. Maybe keep them potted until fall and then transplant?
We put 2x3 fence around small trees to protect them from deer.
It’s the Harlem Ballet. They’re performing in Worcester, MA. DD and I go to the Nutcracker every year and have seen Swan Lake once. This will be a bit different from the standard classical performances. So looking forward to it.
Oh, cool. Please tell us about it when you get back.

I've seen the Nutcracker 3 times, Swan Lake once. Also, Where the Wild Things Are. That was excellent. The dancer who was the main character was SOOO amazing! He was more short and muscular than you usually think of for a ballet dancer, but WOW could he do some amazing moves! Like the splits while doing a one-handed hand stand...

This year I’ve been bagging banana peels, chopped up, then put in the freezer. I plan to add these to my beds to encourage worm populations. Hopefully bananas aren’t wildly appealing to raccoons. I know they love marshmallows, but maybe not rotting banana pepeels.
Interesting! Please let us know how this goes

I saw a video of someone putting a piece of fish in a planting hole with lime and grew massive won bok with nothing else. He put the lime to mask the smell, so animals don't dig it up. Have you ever tried that?
No, but I recall reading that native American tribes caught small fish and placed them in the holes when they planted corn.

I put a bunch of fish scraps in trenches in my garden in 2021. Bad idea... Maybe if I had used lime to cover the smell but critters tend to have a very refined sense of smell.... 😂

I put crayfish scraps in the ground this year but I have the ground covered with landscape fabric, cardboard, and mulch. So far no signs of digging.... Secretly I'm hoping the smell underground will also deter voles, gophurs, etc...
Coffee grounds absorb smells.

What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

I actually planted tons of veg, and argued with the neighbour who accused my chickens of being loud. I told her it can’t be mine I don’t have any chickens anymore and haven’t for over a week. (I do but my cameras prove they aren’t loud and she first started this when my cat pooped in her garden so now we don’t let the cat out and she can’t complain) end result, she whilst her ankle biter- mind you had yapped at her feet the whole conversation said “must have been someone else’s then” her yapper goes on and on for hours from 5am but it’s “never hers” but my chickens are loud she says.

Not a single apology , but I doubt she accuses my chickens again ( I have a Silkie and two Seramas) the crows howl and howl each morning but she never hears them 💁🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

Some people just need a reason to complain.

So get this…as y’all know I can’t bend over to pick up the dead bunnies so I just closed the door to the room where the murderers doggie door is & was going to let DH get rid of the bunnies when he got home. I was out collecting eggs & hear the doggie door open! I yelled for him to get in the house & he did - but not before picking up a dead bunny. 😱 I ran (if you can call it that) into the house to find it in the middle of the living room floor. 😂
