What did you do in the garden today?

Had plans to pick up the thorny tree trimmings, let the birds out, feed the noodlenecks, eat breakfast, pick up the seeds shed for another year, work the greenhouse, eat lunch, and then mow 7 acres. I have to move the tractor for the summer to get to the large mower. Mower won't start. ARGH. D
So the mower is in the shop on the trickle charger. Tractor is in the barn driveway.
Everything else is done but the seed shed.
Tomatoes that were unhappy last night are 95% better this morning. I'll feed the transplants in a few days, and they'll be off and running.

We've had a very wet spring... And yet our water levels just seem really low. Anyone else noticing that where you live? The drought monitor seems to indicate this as well. I wonder what might cause such a scenario? High evaporation maybe?

Rain isn’t what really impacts drought, it’s just a short term solution. Snow pack is what really impacts it, so if y’all didn’t get much of that I would expect those results.

We usually only get one snow event per year. Usually an inch or so... We had quite a bit of snow and subzero temps right before Christmas

Speaking of potatoes... I counted 10 sprouts yesterday, and another 2 joined them today. :)

I planted the grapevines today. We're done with 30s at night (we better be! none in the next 8 days), so I figured it was time for them to move. They look big in a pot. They look tiny in the ground!
:eek::lau
At least they are out of the mudroom and off the porch. I need to remember that I planted the greeeeen grapes in the eeeeeeast. And the red in the west.

Transplanted 18 tomatoes in their beds today. Trying out "Mater Magic" fertilizer. We'll see if it is magical or not...

I put up trellis supports over the 3 tomato beds.

I like your tomato trellises. What varieties did you plant?

I'm going to do the same thing with my six indeterminate vines. The other six are determinate, so I think I'll set up cages around those. They'll top out at 3 or 4 feet tall.

I pounded a pair of t-posts into the ground on either end of my two rows of peas. I wrapped butcher's twine back and forth between the posts to make a pea trellis. They're starting to grow their little tendrils, looking for something to grab hold of. And now they have it!

And the turnip seeds I planted a few days ago are sprouting nicely. Looks like a good germination rate! I love turnip greens!

I would've taken pictures but it's still spitting rain outside and I don't want my Canon to get wet.

I want to make it too. Gonna have DH pick some rhubarb for me when it’s ready…not quite yet.

@Sally PB my dog digs & eats grubs. He loves them. Speaking of, he got a nest of baby bunnies this am, dug them all up & left 2 dead that I can see, so I’m not sure if he ate any or just killed them. I can’t blame him, he’s a rat terrier just doing what he’s supposed too. Now if he could just catch those stupid chipmunks! They’re just too quick for him.

The little murderer:
