What did you do in the garden today?

Built two more 8'x4' raised beds today for a total of 9! More room for broccoli and cauliflower! :yesss: Also spread some Wine Cap spawn - our first attempt at growing mushrooms. Anybody here grow mushrooms?
I got a mushroom box, oyster I think, for Christmas. Grew them but was only about 60% impressed. I threw all the used mushroom compost in the box on a pile of woody refuse on the edge of the woods hoping that it might sprout some mushrooms there. Waitin' to see what happens.

Have you seen James Prigioni's Youtube channel? He calls trellised tomatoes tomato trees. Pretty informative stuff. But kind of a goofy guy. LOL

Just watched part of the video. Definitely a bit of a goof. Lol. The pole trelising is interesting. I sort of wonder how he picks from some of those really tall plants actually.

I bought a ridiculously overpriced shiitake mushroom log from Gurneys. It grew one mushroom. I've wanted to try again with a REAL kit but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Picked up 3 poults from a fellow BYC member today. Then I had to stop at the farm supply store for feed and bedding. I forgot the bedding and picked up 4 black silkies, 1 wyandotte, and 2 buff I-forgot-whats.
DW just found out about the turkeys earlier today before I went to pick them up and then was surprised by the chicks. I another it over though because she has been wanting silkies for a long time.

Oops…..not the thread I intended 🙈
All good. I never heard of IGA. I had to Google that. Apparently they exist here in IL but in a tight cluster in central IL - the closest one looking like 80-100 mi away from me. I love a good meat sale; however, we are stocked here since I picked up a 1/4 cow and whole lamb last weekend from our local butcher. Their meat all comes from their own farm. It's a premium price, but I know where it comes from, how it was raised, and how the meat was handled. This its our second year ordering, and I really think it we'll become an annual event for us.

Planted some flower seeds today. Also put out the black plastic to warm up the soil for planting peanuts.

I’ll need to warm the soil ahead of getting sweet potatoes. I forgot to copy my order, now I don’t know if I ordered 4 or 6 varieties (they come 6 plants per variety). This place only takes paper orders and checks, so no online account.

Leeks -some were killed by the recent cold weather, it appears. They were hardened off before transplant, but I guess couldn’t handle the extended cold. But some still look great.

Good to know! I was wondering about my garden cart tires the other day because I thought I heard one leaking. It wasn't leaking, it had a clump of mud/compost stuck to it just to give me a scare.

My inner tubes were only lasting a couple of years. But I really use my carts a lot and will load fill them up with heavy loads. That's what I bought them for. My inner tubes probably failed because of the weight I put in the carts. Still, that's why I bought the carts, so I just replace an air tire with the solid filled tires now. Be prepared to spend 2-3X more for the soild filled tire, but they will last a lifetime and you won't have to replace them every 2 years - well, that is what I was doing.
