The 2 packets of white currant cherry tomato seeds I just got in April 2023 from Baker Creek were duds, just a heads up

I checked on my Brad's Atomic Grape tomatoes this morning and saw a few over ripe rotten fruit hanging on the vine, so I squeezed the yellow and green ones and they were soft. I was thinking that I would see a red blush on them when they are ready, but apparently even yellowish green ones can be ripe.

I got a good assortment of cherry tomatoes and did a taste comparison with a dash of Himalayan pink salt.

The Brad's Atomic Grape taste more like a sweet pepper than a tomato to me and the Black Cherry has more tart than the Black Triffle which I describe as mild. Furthermore, the Princess Yum Yum Cherry tasted sweeter than the Sweet Heart Cherry, but the mochi texture on the Sweet Heart Cherry makes it unique. More over, the Sun Gold, Sweet 100 and Sun Sugar taste remarkable with salt.

In conclusion, tasting these cherry tomatoes with Himalayan Pink Salt gave me another wow moment, I like them all, but in my yard the only cherry tomato plant not infected with the TYLCV is the Princess Yum Yum, so its the winner. After harvesting the tomatoes on the TYLCV infected plants they will not produce anymore. However, it was worth growing them, since I got to taste them.

Thanks for the tomato testing! My climate can be cool and wet, but also hot and dry in the late summer, so I chose a couple varieties that are supposed to be tolerant of those conditions. Oregon Spring, which I think is a determinate hybrid, and Stupice, with Eastern European heritage, I think, and is also a determinate plant, but not a hybrid so seeds are true to form. If they're not planted near other tomato varieties, of course.

Nice looking boys! Does your breeder have any Plymouth Rock varieties? I don't think any of my 8 are roos, and I may want one. But then again, I might not want to deal with have a rooster either. Still deciding...

Oh nooooo no no no no.......

Not a fan of snakes! Especially aggressive ones. We have one of the highest populations on timber rattlers here, but they are very shy. We have copperheads too, but not nearly as many.

Snakes are creepy - they have no arms or legs & it freaks me out. LOL

ETA: I watered today, looks like my wildflowers are starting to pop up! My sage is coming back to life (you were right @Wee Farmer Sarah).

Forgot, but I watered my entire garden this morning, pulled the rotten wood mulch in around, but not touching, my tomato plants. And removed the plastic mesh fencing that was over my brassica and lettuce plants. And hoed the entire garden. And hoed out all the weeds starting to grow in the gravel border around my house.

Warm, dry weather is on the way here, too, so I'll need to start a morning ritual of watering the garden. 94 degrees! WooHoo! Tomatoes are gonna love that! Peppers go into the ground tomorrow.

I up potted the "replacement" tomato plants I'd started in seed cells. They're doing great. I'll put them in the ground next week when they start growing like crazy in the new 4" pots, to see if that growth rate continues when they're in the garden.

I looked at mine from a safe distance. Any actual work might have been a hazard. 85° with a feels like 98° is a formula for heat stroke.

DH and I got into a big fight last week. I had mentioned to him when we were out at the barn that we (he) needed to cut down a sapling that was growing next to the side door into the barn.

He was only half listening to me.

On Thurs or Fri, he comes inside the house and tells me "hey, I cut down that tree in front of the HOUSE (emphasis mine) that you wanted cut down...."

As I was running out the front door, I hear him call from behind "I wasn't exactly sure which tree so I hope I picked the right one..."

I could have killed him. He cut down my Rose of Sharon tree. At least I THINK it was a Rose of Sharon. It was here when we bought the house and looks like a Blue Azurri Rose of Sharon but as a tree with a single trunk, not a bush. It was around 7 - 8 ft tall. I couldn't help it... I was so mad and sick at the same time.

He said he'd pay to replace it but....

So sorry. I can totally relate to that...
