What did you do in the garden today?

My bleeding hearts didn't come back this year. :idunno

I need that fan - hot flashes are killing me. One day I will just combust.

I have always said that I know how I will die...

Spontaneous combustion.

People always ask about the fan, but they see me at work with it all the time and several have bought one for themselves.

You just have to keep your hair out of it!
But my best solution for that, with my hair being below my waist and doing my best to not damage it, is spiral twist hairpins.

I saw all white bleeding heart plants yesterday at the shop. Who knew?!
I have 3 bleeding heart plants in our yard that we planted last year. All came back this year, although one seems very small compared to the other two. I don't think it less the bark chips that we used as mulch. I removed the bark chips where the other two are planted before the bleeding hearts came up much this year as we were planted bulbs in that bed. Those 2 are double the size of the other one that still has the bark chips around it.

I need to get the garden work done to the point of just maintenance and weed pulling so I can get on to the next project, which his tearing down the shed/coop and building a new one before these chicks and poults get too big for the brooder. I have just a few weeks really... but there is still so much work in the garden to do like planting the last of three seeds, digging up the pathways and laying landscape fabric and gravel into the pathways then. Too much work and not enough time.

That's why I love where I live so much. We're at the end of a dead end road. The neighbors all take care of each other. I can leave anything out, and nobody bothers it.

That's really nice. I live on a lake on property that used to be a resort. For many, many years, I never locked anything including the house or garage. But times have changed. We had some visiting teenagers who thought it was funny to go into our houses and vandalize things. Tools started disappearing out of the garage, etc... After living here for over 20 years, I had to start locking up everything. That's the way our new normal is, unfortunately. That started about 10 years ago.

Most of my neighbors are summer only residents. There was never much worry about people coming and going because I knew them all. However, last year, one of the properties was sold and made into an Air B'n'B and now it's impossible for those of us who live here year-round to know if someone is renting the house or breaking in. That also means I don't know if they are using our access road for rental purposes or if pepople are scoping out the houses for stealing something later.

:idunno Although the person who bought that property and made it into an Air B'n'B might be making some money, the rest of us have certainly lost value in our properties in terms of security alone. It's really hard to look out for yourself and your neighbors when you don't know who is coming on going in your neighborhood.

:clap On the positive side, sometimes we get families with young kids and they like to come over to my property to use my swing set and visit the chickens. I'm OK with that. I try to be a good neighbor even if only for a few days for some of these people.

I sure miss the days when we didn't have to lock up anything; not cars nor houses. You just knew that it was one of those things that happened in 'bad' areas, not in your home town.

Things sure have changed. That's one thing I like about this forum. It feels like neighbors. <3

My working views. Love the new saw and the pool that I need to take out is making a fine sawhorse.

I checked on my Brad's Atomic Grape tomatoes this morning and saw a few over ripe rotten fruit hanging on the vine, so I squeezed the yellow and green ones and they were soft. I was thinking that I would see a red blush on them when they are ready, but apparently even yellowish green ones can be ripe.

I got a good assortment of cherry tomatoes and did a taste comparison with a dash of Himalayan pink salt.

The Brad's Atomic Grape taste more like a sweet pepper than a tomato to me and the Black Cherry has more tart than the Black Triffle which I describe as mild. Furthermore, the Princess Yum Yum Cherry tasted sweeter than the Sweet Heart Cherry, but the mochi texture on the Sweet Heart Cherry makes it unique. More over, the Sun Gold, Sweet 100 and Sun Sugar taste remarkable with salt.

In conclusion, tasting these cherry tomatoes with Himalayan Pink Salt gave me another wow moment, I like them all, but in my yard the only cherry tomato plants that aren't infected with the TYLCV is Princess Yum Yum, so its the winner. The problem with the TYLCV stunting virus is after I harvest the tomatoes on the infected plants, they will not produce anymore. However, it was worth growing them, since I got to taste them.
