What did you do in the garden today?

OOOOH! I love your pond!

I enjoy it too. :) It looks prettier in photos than in real life.

It's a shallow dead pond (other than turtles, mosquitos, and algae) that the neighbor runs cattle in.

But on hot days, under my shade trees, it helps to create a cool breeze on one side of the yard. 😎

This is often how the turtles look in the summer. My biggest is about 2 feet long. They come into my yard to lay eggs. Once, I decided to mark a location so I could, hopefully, watch them hatch. But the next morning something had dug the eggs up - probably a possum or raccoon? I suspect that happens more times than not.

I got the grass cut in Poplar Bluff and then went to my daughter’s to help plan her baby shower. It’s her 1st baby. A boy due August 17th. Then back home where I have chicks hatching! View attachment 3501252
8 out so far. 2 more working on it and 12 more that I’m waiting to see what they are going to do.
Congratulations on the new grand baby Karen!

Good morning all. It’s a beautiful morning here; we only hit 81 yesterday, but we’re back to the 90’s today. We have low triple digits in our 7 day forecast and a small chance of rain next week. I think I’ll water this weekend anyway. I’m not doing a thing outside today, waiting for hubs to help me tomorrow. I’m not allowed to use power tools so he’s going to trim the bougainvillea and a couple of other things. The teenager can pick up the mess :D

Good morning gardeners. I hope your vertigo clears up soon @igorsMistress. I can't imagine how I would cope with that. Yesterday was insane. OMG! I decided to water the garden yesterday before breakfast. Good call because the stove cleaner I got was the same guy from last year who took forever and did a crappy job. I guess he got a talking to because he was still slow, but I think he did a better cleaning job. Fingers crossed. Chloe, my darling rescue with the "fear based" barking issue went crazy. I held her for the first hour then gave up and locked her in the bathroom until he was gone. Over two hours. I did manage to get the tomato plants in the ground and caged. Today is grape planting day. My safari hat arrived yesterday. Yay! That will come in handy especially with the temperatures getting up near 80F the next couple of days. The fence wire I ordered arrived as well. It's 40 inch tall, green coated chicken wire. That should work well on that new garden area on the slope. It's enough to surround a 20 foot square area. Before breakfast this morning I picked some more asparagus, put some old chicken wire around the herb bed where Chloe keeps revisiting (there's finally parsley growing there). I also checked on the blueberry plants. Realized that it was the lilac bush that I watered the other day, but finally found the missing butterfly bush. That really needs water. They will all get a drink today. Time to go and get busy. Have a great day all.

We got a GOOD gully washer last night! 🙌 I'm so thankful! We needed it badly!

Got a break in the rain so I went down to the garden to snap a few pictures. DH is going to be griping at me to bury the poly line so he can mow. 🙄

New beds for vertical watermelon, cantaloupe, and pumpkins. Still need to put in the cattle panel:

And on the perimeter...that asparagus is over 6 ft tall!

Grapes are going crazy! All the way down the fence...

First raspberry of the spring and the new strawberry beds. Still have to put in the replacements that Stark Brothers sent:

Onions and garlic:

And lastly - peach & plum trees, aronia bush, and some flower seedlings mixed among the weeds. 😂
