What did you do in the garden today?

@gtaus, I'm really hoping that the shop takes care of you. I'm hoping it's an easy "oops" fix too.

Where I used to work, we occasionally made "oops" mistakes, just like everyone else. One time, someone forgot to box up and ship an overnight package to the other side of the state for a funeral. It was a beautiful picture of the deceased, a young girl. The owner and manager called the recipient, told them what had happened (early am delivery wasn't going to arrive, and the funeral was at 1 pm) and said, "Don't worry, we are driving it there personally. We'll be there by 9 am."

You seem to be handy. Maybe it's just a cable that wasn't reconnected when the mower was put back together. Might be an easy fix.
And I would be having THEM pick it up and return it to you.
(IF that doesn't work, places like home depot, menards, and tractor supply rent the trailers for like 20$ an hour)

Just in case it got buried yesterday... Does anyone know what would cause a yellow squash plant to turn out fruit that is discolored like this? I placed it next to a normal one so you can see the difference. All of the fruit on this one plant looks like this... Everything else about the plant looks normal. I haven't cut the squash open yet to see if it looks normal on the inside.

It is inside my hoop house so I am hand pollinating.

Up before the sun, but not the smoke. Fed the critters, and spent the next hour and a half spraying and tying up tomatoes. I swear I tie them up every couple of days this time of year.
It's almost too warm for them to set fruit, but I'll take what I can get.

The wildflower garden is getting crazy. A couple of the plants don't like the heat, like the creeping phlox. I'll put something else there next year.

Here's a beauty from this morning with a ready to pick cucumber peeking out on the right.

We got another .3" of rain yesterday for a total of 1.2"!

Today is overcast and smoky! I knew the air index was bad, but thought it was fog at first, then wondered why it was still around after it warmed up a bit. Went out with the dog, and smelled..... nasty smoke. So... yeah... we are staying inside as much as possible today (and my dog doesn't understand why we can't go outside to play).

During a potty break outside (for the dog, I swear), I saw that my new mole trap was sprung! It might not have been the garden mole, but it was close enough for me to want it gone. The trap is reset in the same tunnel for the next mole who moves in. He was tossed in the meadow for the wild things.
There's a picture of the beast below:

Also, June drop is upon us!

I'm thinking I'll make some vinegar out of them.... unless I have to cut out the damaged bits...

Same here! I thought we had early morning fog. Nope. It's all smoke.

I weeded one raised bed, then planted beans. This is the bed that had garlic last year, and alliums and beans (and peas) don't get along. So this is an experiment to see if beans will grow and bear in a former allium bed.
