What did you do in the garden today?

That was my question to last year when I grew some. I finally figured out that you want to pick it before the petals start to open. I waited too long because I was waiting for mine to get bigger. Edited to add: they never did get bigger. They just started to open up and flower. The ones I grew were a lot smaller than what you see in the grocery store

Good to know. I'll pick it one of these days and see how it is. I've never been a big artichoke fan, but I think if it's one I've grown I'll like it better. With butter.

That sounds delicious! Unfortunately my eggplants are still nowhere near ready a couple actually fell off or got bitten off. I’m hoping the remaining ones will be ready soon. I love eggplant lol

I made eggplant parm one year and it was delicious lol except the recipe called for a bit too much cheese so if I ever made it again I would opt for less cheese but yeah. Really good lol

@TJAnonymous at least the boxes were empty? LOL, less work than going thru full ones?

She has plenty of full boxes too but I'd definitely ratio 5 empty boxes for every full one.

13 pages behind!

It is dry out there. We are supposed to get rain…but some weather sources say little to none. We really need some rain!

Took 23 chickens to auction today, but 5 were chicks with their momma, she hatched them 2 weeks ago. We should be getting new chicks within the next couple of weeks -waiting for a call saying shipped, and then a nervous wreck bc the USPS can be slow…let’s hope they are not slow with moving the chicks through the system.

For dinner, we had all garden items: potatoes, beets, glazed carrots, along with some meat.

We have harvested rat-tail radish seed pods. They are crisp and spicy raw. I’m planning to pickle them. Should I water bath can them? Anyone know? @WthrLady, @Sueby , @Wee Farmer Sarah @TJAnonymous
