I unpacked the gardening books from my mom's house and put them in the bookshelf tonight. Lots of interesting titles to keep me entertained over the winter...

That looks like one of the non fiction sections in our public library! That’s great!

You are lucky, my hubby kind of hates plants and prefers buying veggies in a supermarket ( not that he really buys veggies at all, when I broke my big toe and couldn’t drive, I sent him shopping for veggies , and since he’s “the man” he couldn’t ask for them, so he came home with totally different veggies than I had sent him for ) always complains while I’m raising seedlings in the house and is relived when they go outside

I think my hubby has set foot in the market less than 12 times in our 30 years. I on the other hand can make a shopping list in order, by shelf placement as you walk down the rows, by memory. (keep in mind we have lived over 20 places in those 30 years too.)

walked the garden this morning while old hen looked for bugs and worms

Found a few MUTANT cucumbers, so relish is on the list for making
Found some NORMAL cucumbers, so spicy spears on on the list as well
We don't eat many, but they make great give aways.

I also harvested Rosemary, Tarragon, Lemon Balm, Basil and Oregano. All that is in the dehydrator for a couple of days. The house already smells like a spa that is set up in the back of a pizza joint.

Our supermarkets here rearrange their shelves almost every 6 months or so, so that you don’t get too comfortable going shopping it is a big problem for my 89 year old father-in-law who can see very little…. He remembers where certain things are and puts them into his shopping cart, thank God hubby goes shopping with him and can tell him he took the wrong sausage …. At least he can see the difference there

Looks delicious! And I agree, too hot to cook. I just ate raw zucchini spears dipped in ranch dressing for lunch.

while tending and watering the flowers and watermelons, ‘maters, cuke, beans. I found this tiny green anole on my giant deformed 5’ tall marigolds. T’was likely hiding out up high for the ranging birds, smart fella!
