Thanks. I guess I'll be wearing long pants until I finish that job. Don't want to get another rash. That was no fun.

Just remember to wash your clothes in cold water for 1 year. It sounds crazy but if you wash them in hot water the oils will be released into your skin.

My hubby is terribly allergic to the stuff so I have to take care of it. I will get it but he ends up in the Dr's office so I do this.

Years ago my father got a really bad case of poison ivy all over his body. He had to go to the doctor for stronger medication. The next year, he got some kind of a shot and never had a problem with poison ivy again.

My case of poison ivy was only on the lower half of my legs around my ankles above the sock line. And, a little bit on my hands. But I was able to prevent it from spreading and just treated it myself with creams and Band-Aids on the worst spots that I wanted to scratch. It did not stop from doing anything I wanted. But I'm glad all the itchy feeling is gone and don't want to get exposed again.

I have been wearing long pants the past few weeks, despite how hot it might get, because I am cleaning and clearing those areas that the poison ivy is growing. I'd rather sweat a load then to get reinfected. But it's nice to get some of those neglected areas looking better.

If I mow down the poison ivy, and keep that place mowed,, will the poison ivy die off in that area? I think so, but I'm not sure.

One more thing...make sure you never burn it. I have a friend who did. They ended up in the hospital. It was in their sinuses, throat. They really got sick.

I did not know that. With that in mind, I suppose it would be best to wash the pants by themselves and not with any other clothes. Right? I might have to designate those blue jeans as my poison ivy work jeans and wash them myself, so Dear Wife does not toss them in the wash with my other clothes.

If you have to wash the jeans in cold water, can you still dry them in a clothes dryer, or do you have to put them out on a clothesline or rack? I don't want to spread any of that oil on our other clothes. I do have a clothes rack I could use. Thanks for any info on that subject. I've never personally dealt with poison ivy infection before.

Boil a few gallons of vinegar. It's a death warrant for weeds and pretty much anything else it touches.

I'm not sure about drying in the dryer. You can also boil some vinegar and pour it on the poison ivy and kill it. I would use an extremely good mask.

Would that work to kill the poison ivy? Seems like a waste to dump all that pickle juice down the drain if I can use it to kill poison ivy.

We have poison ivy growing on a canal at the back of our property. It is difficult to get rid of. It seems to spread with underground runners when we cut it back with the mower. So if you do this just keep watch around the area that it doesn't pop up somewhere else. It can be relentless! I have too much of if back there to do the hot water thing.

I would boil a box of salt in the vinegar till the salt dissolves.

And adding a little dawn dish soap makes it stick to the leaves.

The SVB or stink bugs have finally taken hold of the cushaw squash. I am so sick of these bugs. I may not grow squash any more. I don't know what magic pixie dust the big farms and you-picks use, but dang, it must be good stuff.

Did 7 half pints of relish, 6 pints of dill spears, and 5 quarts of tomato puree today. I have an insane amount of tomatoes ripening under beach towels on the counter, and a large box of Italian Plums waiting. I think Saturday for the tomatoes, and maybe Friday for the plums.

The manure spreader came today. I assembled that and decaled it up. I'll start throwing poo after lunch tomorrow.
