What did you do in the garden today?

Way to stay positive @WthrLady. LOL

I even tried to give the internet guy some green beans & he didn't want them. :hit I have a couple truck loads of wood chips coming this week & next. :yesss: Maybe they'll take some beans. 🤭

Todays little harvest - the way too big mutant squash, lots of sungolds before the rain tonight, the very last cucumber & mooooore beans, of course:

The weather in Northern California has cooled down enough for my tomatoes to start getting ripe. I've picked about 10-15 cherry tomatoes both yesterday and the day before that. I have a couple of peppers trying to come up but I am very doubtful. I'm still waiting for the end of September so I can dig up my potatoes and hopefully I will get some cucumbers. I also have a crookneck that needs to be picked. Squash fries, yummy.

@akroberts1085 How do you do your squash fries? That's one thing made of squash I haven't tried!
I cut the squash in half width side not length. I cut them up like I am going to make french fries. I give them a milk bath, just enough to wet them down. I mix a very small amount of seasoning to some flour and deep fry them. They are so good. I took them to the store and the owner and I ate what we could. She asked if she could take them home to her family and I told her of course. Her husband stops eating after 4pm, she didn't get home until after 7pm. He cleaned over half a plate of squash fries.

I am doing a comparison with a grobucket insert, AC Infinity self-watering fabric pot base, and a Larry Hall DYI fabric pot plant base idea, so far, the grobucket and DYI plant base plants are growing about the same, but I did not add any water to the grobucket after 2 weeks, so it holds more water, and it has a water level float indicator. The grobucket is better in this regard, but the advantages of a fabric pot may show up as the plants mature.

I haven't set up the AC Infinity self-watering 7-gallon fabric pot base yet, but based on the instructions, it only keeps the bottom 3rd moist, so they recommend watering from the top a few weeks until the roots grow out and then fill from the bottom. It has a water level indicator, so that's a plus. I think this type of self-watering plant base was designed for
indoor plants, and most of the reviews are from marijuana indoor grow tents results.

I think my 5-gallon wicking water reservoir with fabric lined 5-gallon air pruning bucket, may turn out to be the cheapest and best performer.
