What did you do in the garden today?

Did some yard clean up yesterday and pruned and fed some potted plants. I found some helpers!

Hey all. Just got back from camping, so nothing happening in the garden here. We sold the camper so unloading it is going to take the day. I know I need to pick tomatoes & beans. I need to pull the dead cuke vines too.

My plan next year is parthenocarpic for all squash & cukes & cover the cattle panels they'll grow on. I'm over fighting the bugs - my back just doesn't have it anymore. The rest will go in the greenstalks - lettuce, onions, strawberries, peppers. Green beans are fine, not really any bugs on them.

That's it. The tomatoes are cut and in the compost.
I left the midnight snack cherry tomato standing and the two Bodacious plants standing. All the rest are gone.
The wild flower section will be next, but I'll just bend it all back towards the garden area, so they can self seed. I want birds and bugs to still have them.
I'll take down the cucumber in there as well, as long as I'm in that spot.
The heat today has already won, 90 at 11am heading for 100, so I'm done for the morning.

13 pages behind!

It is dry out there. We are supposed to get rain…but some weather sources say little to none. We really need some rain!

Took 23 chickens to auction today, but 5 were chicks with their momma, she hatched them 2 weeks ago. We should be getting new chicks within the next couple of weeks -waiting for a call saying shipped, and then a nervous wreck bc the USPS can be slow…let’s hope they are not slow with moving the chicks through the system.

For dinner, we had all garden items: potatoes, beets, glazed carrots, along with some meat.

We have harvested rat-tail radish seed pods. They are crisp and spicy raw. I’m planning to pickle them. Should I water bath can them? Anyone know? @WthrLady, @Sueby , @Wee Farmer Sarah @TJAnonymous
Anytime you pickle it can be water bath canned. The acidity of pickling makes it safe for water bathing.

My redneck method of keeping cats out until I can get bird netting up, cardboard!

The fencing and hardware cloth is there to discourage rabbits.
Someone/something chewed a hole in the cardboard!

I found the netting in the shed, it's all fixed now:
