What did you do in the garden today?

Are you satisfied with it? Do you know the name and source of the product. I need to get one for Scaredy Cat our semi reformed feral.

This is the brand below. I originally purchased it for an elderly, sick stray that showed up at my mom's place. It only turns on when it's actually got weight on it. That was important to me from a safety & efficiency perspective. I had to put that stray to sleep earlier this year. Now I use it for our barn cats who equally love it. However, they refused to use it until I placed the little cat house (a mini doghouse with this pad inside) high up on top of the hay bales. I think they feel safer being high off the ground, but it also underscores the need to ensure it shuts off when they aren't using it!

I planted my garlic today, 16 cloves. I have no idea what variety it is. Just something I bought at HDep a couple years ago, and harvested a couple months ago. It's been hanging up and drying since then. The garlic has some red on the skin, so maybe it's red German? I think it's a hardneck variety.

I amended the garlic patch with about 5 gallons of composted chicken run material, and mixed it into the dirt well. That should help them grow.

Today, I poured apple cider vinegar and water into my earth box's water reservoir. I ran some ph test and determined that it took 2 oz or 4 TBS of cider vinegar per 5 gallon water to drop my water's ph to around 6. I will refrain from wetting the top of the earth box and I won't add any fertilizer to the reservoir this time around.

My earth box is under a 40% sun tarp, so I don't have to worry about the rain washing out the fertilizer on top.

Hanging laundry on the line was as close to the great outdoors as I managed today (besides trying to catch alpacas to put a coat on one, failed at that.)

Rescued an almost 90 year old quilt from the local charity shop. It was stained, but nothing an oxiclean soak and a run through the delicate cycle with some persil didn't manage. Then out to the line it went. It has a couple tiny places that need stitched as it was obviously hand sewn. I can manage that this winter at the same time I have it sitting on my lap, keeping me warm. HA!
