What did you do in the garden today?

I'll say one that is cooking! And it's my new oriental plane tree! I think I probably shouldn't have used that compost I cracked a tonne of eggs into. On the fence about the philodendron surviving, got hope for that one. I decided to pull the russian kale that was in the NFT since it was getting devoured and I didn't want my caysan peppers to get affected. I think I also may reward myself with more quail once I get this coop finished.

One thing I have noticed about the cherry tomatoes in the middle of the northern bed is that they are fruiting but the one to the left is easily smaller. Kinda curious as to how they all turn out! I'd love to use some in an omelette.

DH dug up some more lilies from the garden. He should get the job done in one more night. The bulbs are on newspapers in the basement, drying out so we can separate the bulbs. Must be a bazillion of them, lol. This will keep us busy through the winter. Here is a picture of one typical large clump, and a close-up of a smaller clump, showing the multitude of bulbs (bulbils, actually) to be separated. There is also a pic of one of the two basement rooms, full of clumps!

Those look like daylilies to me. I never dig mine and they can survive winter even in zone 3.

Well it's official, the growing season is over! It's so frozen out there, it almost looks like it snowed. I'm so mad at myself, I forgot to dig up the one dahlia I have in a pot - it's my favorite one & the last one I have of it. I sure hope it's ok. I checked the 5 gallon chicken waterers & they weren't frozen so hopefully the tuber is ok.

G’morning gardeners. @WthrLady I love that quilt! So glad it ended up with someone who will love it. @Sueby hope the Dahlia is ok. We are in the 50’s this morning, I opened the doors and windows already. I haven’t been outside much this week except to water a little bit. It has been breezy and my allergies are stronger than my antihistamines. I tried adding some Claritin as a secondary but so far it hasn’t done much. Today should be calmer so hopefully I can paint some pickets and get a few things done out there.
