I found a good deal on a DIY 4-port PVC 5-gallon feeder kit on Amazon on overstock price marked down to only $6.49. I originally posted the notice on a different thread, but it also now relates to gardening.

I wanted to share something I just got a notification from Amazon, it is a 4-port kit for buckets with 1 hole saw included, overstock price reduced to only $6.49 for the kit! That's a fantastic price. The hole saw alone sells for more than $6.49 at most places. Plus, you cannot buy the PVC elbows, rings, and plugs at that price at the big box stores. I don't know how long that sale will last, but if you are interested, check it out. Here are some pics of the deal...

BONUS DEAL FOR ME: The included 3-inch hole saw in this kit is the perfect size for my 3-inch net cups which I use to start my plants in late winter. I keep thinking I might want to try some net cups in a hydroponics system. This hole saw would cut perfect holes for these net cups.

BTW, the least expensive 3-inch hole saw I could find on Amazon was this...

If you are looking for an inexpensive 3-inch hole saw, you might want to consider ordering this 4-port feeder kit on sale for $6.49 and save yourself money, plus you would have the parts to make a new 4-port PVC bucket feeder for your chickens.

Our local church charity Thrift Shop is only open on Tuesdays. So, I went into town today and stopped by there to see if there was anything I could use. To my surprise, some nice person had dropped off some buttercup and acorn squash and put them in the free bin! What a treat.

I normally plant buttercup squash every year, but this year the local stores did not have any for sale, and it was too late for me to start with seeds. I ended up growing butternut squash instead, but it turns out that both Dear Wife and I like buttercup squash better. Anyways, thanks to some generous person, we will have fresh buttercup squash for Thanksgiving this year!

Questions on vacuum sealers. When I use the vacuum sealer bags in my vacuum sealer, it removes a lot of the air but not everything. The bag does not collapse completely around the food like I might see in some commercial vacuum sealed products. There are air pockets left around the food, like air pockets around chunks of zucchini. Is this normal for a home vacuum sealer, or is my sealer not performing 100%? If the vacuum sealer does not remove all the air in the bag, is there any benefit to using those bags over just a plain zip lock bag?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Provided it’s not user error then it’s not up to par and I would return it if possible. Your bag should look just like one you get at the store. I say user error because I can use the vac sealer
No problem, but my daughter always messes things up. Don’t know how, but she does.

I guess I didn’t finish my thought, my daughter sometimes has issues with ours, but I don’t for whatever reason. I would say it’s your machine though lol

Save the seeds, but maybe buy a packet of seeds too. The ones from the squash might be a hybrid, and not grow true. But, they might be, or they might grow something new and weird and wonderful!

Not only that, but any squash seed can be used to make toasted "pumpkin" seeds.
